NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Is there any binning that goes on in any of these models like at all? Like the strix line for example, is just a random die, same as "gaming oc", or "ventus", a founders card, or anything right?
totally random these days, luck of the draw
Infact been like that for a long time makes me wonder if the even 'binned' the 2080ti's or even the 1080 ti's
they sell too many to test maybe?

I thought this was pretty funny....

One thing that killed the possibility of me buying a 5080 is the RAM. Interestingly, they raise that in the video. My guess is that it was initially specced to 24GB and then stepped back to get the price under $1000. Whatever, I'm not buying one with only 16GB.

Yeah msi had a box for a 5080 with 24gb on it so probably a late change. Samsungs 3gb modules only just out so they are using it for the 5090 laptop.

for the price point it's not worth it, you can bet nvidia will do a 5080ti with 24gb of ram, just a waiting game

The size of these 5090 cards is something else. I either get the 5090 FE, or spend more on an AIB card AND buy a new full tower case (Lian Li Mesh II doesn't cut it anymore).

I recall the rumours, whatever they are worth, suggested that the supply of 3GB GDDR7 memory chips was limited, and so Nvidia prioritised the 5090 laptop instead to have 24GB. Bit of a shame but it leaves them room to bring in a 5080 Super/Ti with 24GB.

As per the GN video, the naming of AIB cards has gotten completely absurd. We need some standardisation here. I'd suggest:

- Basically Normal Edition
- Basically Normal with Unicorn Vomit Edition
- Unicorn Vomit and an Overclock Edition
- Huge Overclock and a Weird Custom Cooler You Don't Quite Trust Edition
- Massive Watercooler that Needs a Case the Size of a Caravan Edition

I'm thinking of upgrading my 3070ti to the 5070ti, depending on reviews and price. I currently run my 3070ti in tandem with a 12600K, not overclocked, and all is good. Obviously no one has hands on a 5070ti yet but is there a potential cpu bottleneck with the 5070ti? Would a 4070ti be bottlenecked by the 12600k?

lol nvidia saying 80% of people used DLSS like people don;'t care about IQ.
99% of games turn it on by default?

most people probably don't realise it kills IQ

I'm with linus you don't buy a 2k graphics card because you want to use DLSS and frame gen.
these same people likely bought oled monitors for the 0ms refresh rate, and uber low input lag..

I wanna see people use frame gen 4x in something like Iracing, and compare lap times without it.

Framegen would be amazing for consoles, it means we could get better looking games on PC without consoles holding us back graphically.

but on PC I'm not convinced.
Works on PC, too. Not everyone needs super low latency.

how are they coming to the conclusion 5090 is 34-41% better at raster?
seems very high to me.

is it some weird maths..
not a straight 34-41%

Makes you wounder what the manufactures think gamers or anyone who buys any 5000 series cards like in terms of "look".

All the RGB and other marketing stuff they spill out isn't for me and mainly has no performance benefit, I'm not a fan of RGB, I know people love it, that's fine but I would like to see manufactures come out with just a graphics card with no fancy unnecessary stuff all over it.

In GN's video mentioned above he does make fun of it all.

Astral or Suprim + FE will be attempted to be acquired + Can sell on MM if both are successful whichever one is hotter/noisier can get the boot :D

Liquid Suprim Looks good also but I already have too many fans in my case
Same here, I might consider the Gigabyte Master too, but that optional fan just looks wack imo lol, probably gonna go for Suprim as it won't have the Asus tax but also is a solid card

To be honest, RGB done right can look extremely good and tasteful, it just needs to blend in properly and not be over the top rainbow unicorn vomit

You've hit the nail on the head, when its done right it looks great just a shame things can go crazy. I will admit some of the card too look good but some do make you wounder.
