NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Ever since seeing the Colorful iGame Neptune I started getting ideas..

Whip the radiator off, remove it's internal pump and figure away to plumb it in to my SFF build, cause that is one nice looking graphics card. But alas, it's coming in 5080 form only so I imagine it would be a downgrade to my 4090.

Daniel Owen latest video makes the prospect of a 5080 more enticing for me as an upgrade from a 4080. He is referencing some posts that pixel count the uplift on the 4000 to 5000 and it comes out around 35% (with RT). So far more inline with the usual uplift with the price reductions.

As usual will wait for reviews and stock levels to normalise before deciding. If I do get a 5080 my 4080 could go in the son’s PC and I could sell his 7900 XT.

Yeah, definitely wait for reviews and definitely don't trust a very vague slide by Nvidia for true representative performance. There's no raster-only on that slide and usually these companies tend to cherry-pick, though I know Far Cry usually performs better on AMD GPUs. But after seeing the false performance claims we had last year, you can't really trust performance claims by these companies anymore.

Because nobody will know if it's a dog or a chicken dinner until it's sold out (potentially).

I wonder how many 5090s will be returned at the start of February, though I reckon there will be more refunding of 5080s lol.

Well the 5090 will get reviews the week before, and anyone buying it decided weeks ago that they were buying it anyway.

The 5080 could be some ultimate 3D chess move... They might be stalling because the 5090 isn't much better and the 5080 is better value.

I need what you're smoking lmao

Great news for the 5090 embargo being 24th Jan, plenty of time to read/watch everything and make a decision on how to proceed.

I hope there's some pcie gen 5 scaling tests (just to double check), lots of noise testing, actual measurements of all the cards, teardowns, etc.

I'm flip flopping between the 5080 and 5070ti. I guess I will go for the 5080 FE on launch day because launch fomo/hype and I really, really want the card for KCD2 on the 4th of Feb.
