NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Is there anyone here from the gaming enthusiast side that has actually paid £1k+ for a used 4090 in the last 3 months? I’m not asking whether people have sold their 4090s, as there is clearly a market for them… I’m just not convinced that it’s a very big one, or put another way I think it must be for a niche audience. If people are mostly buying them to ship abroad or for commercial purposes, I’d expect that market to pretty much vaporise once the 50 series drops.

New 5080 for me, personally, out of those choices. Too much money and risk to gamble on second hand equipment like that. It’s bad enough buying it new! :o :p
hmmm, pretty sure a 1K 4090 doesnt exist, the cheapest used 4090 ive seen is 1450, it will go to 1k, but not quite just yet.

I'm 3090 too.
With the dramatic fall in the price for what I paid. I'm waiting to see how the 5080 looks.

In my mind it's a brand new 5080 or a used 4080 Super. If both options are expensive or not as impressive, I will sit it out for 18months to 2 years and poss do the full hog and move away from AM4 build.

I'm not ready to watch another 1500 quid dissappear, so if I'm spending the 90 card money, it will have to be the 6090 (if they call it that) and be really worthwhile.
what ga,es do you play with the 3090, because yesterday I fired up a 3090 in my PC, and started Stalker 2, when I had the 4090 i was getting 100FPS+ a basic card swap and I was just managing 35FPS, so did the drivers and still the same, on 4k, I had to dramatically reduce the settings to hit the 60 frames mark....

I got one for just under £1100 and sold it for £1500

saw someone else buy a whole 4090 PC for £1300 a month ago.

Sometimes people get lucky and snap a deal quickly.

Or the seller is desperate for cash/emergency.

4090's still going strong on ebay for now though.

yeah but doesnt the 5090 have fake AI frame vs 4090 proper raster frames? maybe we need to see a head on 4090 vs 5090, no DLSS no frame gen fake BS, a fair fight, straight up 4k res all DLSS off, RT on, identical settings, then we shall see how behind the 4090 really is, also waiting to see the 4090 destroy the 5080 on the same tests
But isn't that like racing 2 cars, new model has a turbo and the older model doesn't. So you switch off the turbo to make it "fair" and then convince yourself that the older model is somehow better? I don't understand the logic.

There's no such thing as fake frames, it's ridiculous. Frames are frames - all that matters is how the end experience looks and feels to the person playing the game.

Of course a 4090 will beat a 5080 if you turn off its turbo. But give the 5080 back its turbo and it's bye bye crusty old 4090.

A 5080 is only gong to beat 4090 in very specific circumstances with DLSS4 framegen. For most other scenarios, especially at higher resolutions, particularly for VR, a RTX4090 is simply superior.

Agree and I'm not debating that. But the vast majority of people looking to buy either a 4090 or a 5080 are looking to play the latest and greatest games - most if not all of which will support 4x frame gen of the 50 series.

Sounds like copium to me. MFG isn't extra performance - it's a motion smoothing technology with added latency. And no, all rendered frames aren't fake - that's just another "line" being trotted out on the likes of reddit by those who can't quite come to terms with the fact that the 5000 series cards are a bit of damp squib.

Are you telling me that playing at 60fps looks and feels better than 120fps with X2 FG? Come on be honest ;)
