I think that anyone planning on upgrading from a 4090 is a moron plain and simple. (same with anyone that upgrades from one generations top tier card to the next every time)

yeah, the fact they aren't releasing until March despite retailers already having the cards in stock... that is really not a good sign in the slightest.

Why does the left hand image show 77 FPS and ~31ms if there's no frame Gen? 77 FPS should be ~13ms.It's been gone over a few times in the thread already but this is no longer an issue if your base frame rate is high. There is no significant latency gain with the new DLSS4 frame gen:
The compromise is an increase in artefacts in very fast moving objects. So it's not perfect, but feedback has been positive - I'm yet to hear any reviewer say it's not worth it.
Not to dunk on your post; I've seen the same youtube video so I know where it's from, but it's curious to see those numbers.

I'm guessing it is system latency, and not just frametime? But it's never than clear with these ms figures reference in frame gen comparisons.

It was me that said “it”. But I was saying the price that I’d buy a used 4090 at vs. A new 5080.I didn't say that, someone else did. I'm just saying I wouldn't pay more than 8-900 quid max for a second hand 4090 and as I said, give it a couple of months and the used market will reflect actual value. People paying £1500 for a used 4090 right now are crazy

Has there been any reviews yet on the aio water cooling 5090?
That could be the best one to get as it's water cooled and won't input hot air into the cpu etc?

Found a review of the aio version
This is one of my issues with MFG ; you need a good frame rate before using it otherwise the latency and visual artifacts are distracting. In this video Tim is recommending a base frame rate of 100-120 fps, or 70-80 fps at a bare minimum depending on the game/genre. For me personally, if my game is already running at 4K/120 fps then I don't need or want MFG on top of that.
