NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

There is a grade B 4080 Ventus on the clearance section if anyone is interested: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...gb-gddr6x-pci-express-graphics-bg-5ds-ms.html

Here is how to make an offer for it: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/b-grade-clearance-and-forum-deals.18925626/

You should be able to get a great deal than what the AIB's are going to be charging for a 5080 with little uplift in performance :)

"I don't know what condition the item is in so don't ask".

Nothing like giving buyer confidence

At this point, I'm hoping for a 5080ti but cant see it happening with a blackwell die unless nvidia have a separate chip cooking which isn't likely. The 5080 is already the full chip so they cant release a higher performance version and there is no reason for them to cut down 5090s and sell for cheaper.

Is there any technical reason stopping them slapping GDDR7 on a 4090 chip and relaunch it as a 5080ti?

If you read through the thread its generally open boxed stuff.. but you get 6 months warranty from Overclockers so what is there not to trust? :)
I have bought a few b grade gpus over the years and has zero issues. That said they always been entry level cards, most recently an rx 6600. Not sure I'd be brave enough to spend a grand on an open box product

Like the "inevitable" 4080 Ti you mean? Best of luck waiting for that.

You might well be right I’m just struggling to see that nvidia’s best offering outside the 5090 for gamers for the next two odd years will be a 16GB 5080 that is barely 10% faster than the last gen.

Because of the die size it wouldn't be worth making for the price and the 4090 already has plenty of bandwidth it seems. I think the best we can hope for is chips that didn't quite make the grade to become a 5090 going towards a 5080 Ti. More likely we will just get a 5080 with *24GB of VRAM as a Super/Ti refresh next year. Perhaps if they shrink the process for the refresh it will clock a bit better.

Another bonus, potentially minor for some, is finally getting the new display port standard to avoid DSC.

I've had DSC issues on my current monitor because, unfortunately, there isn't an ability to disable it (unlike some premium models). I've ordered a monitor with the new standard so that should be a nice pairing. Edit: not cheap though...!

Edit: for anyone interested.... see my posts from here (in that thread) with the solution below:

Since then, it's still happened a few times so I've been locking the monitor at 144hz (140fps via G-Sync) when running anything in HDR.
Which monitor did you go for?

Dont take the price they have advertised as face value

Literally on Monday a member here got an ASUS TUF OC 4090 B-Grade from here.. it was advertised at £1999 and they had an offer of £1150 accepted.. so i am guessing maybe it could be picked up for like £600?

I just posted it as i saw it, saw the 5080 leak and thought it might help someone so if it does then thats great.. if not no hardship :)

I assume during the process of making 5090's they encounter defective dies that could be sold as a 5080ti/super. However it will take time to build supply this way because the yield rate on the current process node is very high and yes there is no reason for Nvidia to try and make defective gb202 chips, they can only build stock of accidental failures

So yeah I think a 5080ti/super will be coming, but it's probably at least 6 months away

I bought a 7900XTX at a great price this week from their clearance stock and the thing was like new and in its original box. I also bought 32gb of ram that is running perfectly fine. You have 14 days to return any items at their expense so I think it's definitely worth a try.

The joke is that only the first 5 people in line will get a GPU

And these people are all scalpers
This launch does feel tailor made for scalpers. It's terrible

Like even if you weren't a scalpers, if you get a 5090 on day one, and day 2 they are selling for £500+ what you paid. Why wouldn't you sell and just wait for the stock to settle down :(
