Yeah I had an offer accepted on the 4080 Super TUF on Monday, I paid within the hour... Then I get an email yesterday saying it had already sold, would I like to choose an alternative etc. I sent a reply about 30 minutes after that, and heard nothing yet. There is a grade B 4080 Ventus on the clearance section if anyone is interested: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...gb-gddr6x-pci-express-graphics-bg-5ds-ms.html
Here is how to make an offer for it: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/b-grade-clearance-and-forum-deals.18925626/
You should be able to get a great deal than what the AIB's are going to be charging for a 5080 with little uplift in performance
so it's your faultThat’s exactly what would happen if I kept my card, I f…… guarantee it.
Just keep taking my money NVIDIA, I just don’t care anymore.
Wait for the 9070XT if you're considering that as it or the 7900XTX will be cheaper. 5080 will defo plummet in value when 60 series release and it doesn't look very good value now. That’s good info, im unsure as to if I even want a 5080 after seeing leaked reviews, it’s possible to get a new 7900xtx for £600 so idk whether to just get that if I’m gaming at 1440p. Would to prices plummet for a 5080 if a 5080ti or 60 series came out?
The problem for "us gamers" is that AMD are sitting out this generation in terms of the high-end. The 9070 XT looks like it could be a decent card if priced correctly, but even the most optimistic leaks put it at 7900 XT/4070 Ti Super raster performance. Anything above that there is literally no option except Nvidia, so they don't have to try. You can't opt for the competition instead if there isn't any. Intel are even further away with the B580 being an entry-level card and no information on whether a B780 will even be released at all. My expectation for a 5080 Super would be slightly higher clocks, slightly faster VRAM and the use of 3GB modules to bump it up to 24GB. That'll be enough to sell it to people. You might well be right I’m just struggling to see that nvidia’s best offering outside the 5090 for gamers for the next two odd years will be a 16GB 5080 that is barely 10% faster than the last gen.
Maybe gaming is their favourite hobby. I don't see why it's sad other people are excited. If they're scalpers though, I hope it rains and their tents have holes. This is quite sad. It's a gpu ffs.
Nvidia just laps this up
It feels as if Nvidia is trying to recreate the scarcity feeling similar to 3k series ones and then pump prices up one way or another and just make them be desired much more than they would've been otherwise if in stock. This launch does feel tailor made for scalpers. It's terrible
Like even if you weren't a scalpers, if you get a 5090 on day one, and day 2 they are selling for £500+ what you paid. Why wouldn't you sell and just wait for the stock to settle down
Nah, I don't think they specifically care to screw normal consumers. I think they just pre-sold most of their stock to datacentres and we are getting what's left while we wait for restocking. It feels as if Nvidia is trying to recreate the scarcity feeling similar to 3k series ones and then pump prices up one way or another and just make them be desired much more than they would've been otherwise if in stock.
i think nvidia were extremely late to their finalise their design perhaps they were waiting for the 3gb modules from samsung and they haven't produced enough yet. Msi leaked a box for the 5080 with 24gb vram it was probably a late decisions to go with 16gb.It feels as if Nvidia is trying to recreate the scarcity feeling similar to 3k series ones and then pump prices up one way or another and just make them be desired much more than they would've been otherwise if in stock.
Potentially but also they sold apparently most stock to system builders for good price instead of retail. Better margins for everyone involved.i think nvidia were extremely late to their finalise their design perhaps they were waiting for the 3gb modules from samsung and they haven't produced enough yet. Board partners have already said the 50 series MSRPs feel like charity so I'm fully expecting the base model aib cards to basically not be restocked after launch same as the 30 series. All that will be available is the OC models with higher price points. It feels as if Nvidia is trying to recreate the scarcity feeling similar to 3k series ones and then pump prices up one way or another and just make them be desired much more than they would've been otherwise if in stock.
and gave half their stock to youtubers. might start a channel ahead of the 60 series.Potentially but also they sold apparently most stock to system builders for good price instead of retail. Better margins for everyone involved.
Yes they had a certain limit they were obliged to sell for MSRP then they just discontinued them. I think it is going to be the same. The 5090 will be unavailable anywhere at MSRP after the first weeks, and the 5080 and 5070ti will just increase in price up to £1200 and £1000.Board partners have already said the 50 series MSRPs feel like charity so I'm fully expecting the base model aib cards to basically not be restocked after launch same as the 30 series.
