2020?
3080 ti = +40% = £999?
3080 = +10% = £699?

2021?
3070 = -10% (?) = £499 ? (= 2080 Super Duper)
3060 = -30% (?) = £349 ? (= 2080)

I guess what I'm wondering is, how does the whole lineup stack up. If they launch 3080 ti & 3080 this year, do they just get rid of only 2080 ti & 2080 (+ Super)? But then you have a £200 difference between a 2070S and a better than 2080 ti. Seems kinda weird.

LOL, screw those prices. nV isn't getting a penny more from me, as I mostly blame them for the absurd pricing of modern cards, even prior to the bitcoin crap.

Although I reckon the xx60 cards will be £350-£450 for the Asus variant

The rest are so beyond my price range I don't even care about them.

PC hardware is in such a sorry state. Got to be a sodding millionaire to enjoy it.

Has always been expensive if you plan to purchase the high end. Although they have taken the **** a bit on the last gen. Some of that down to simply no competition. Most top end cards have been $699 in the past for reference which roughly translates to £700 or more.

I have a feeling AMD will bring some tough price competition though with their new cards, hopefully...

xx60 and xx70 are mid-low and mid-range, really.

Fully expect the xx70 to be £475-£550. And the xx60 to be £350-£450.

"Mainstream" prices, ie £200-£250... what do you get for that these days. Not even an xx60, lol.

That will come back into fashion, maybe not right away, but pretty soon. The consoles and the economic trend will force both players to come with with good solutions for lower prices. Over the top profits won't last long.

xx60 and xx70 are definitely 'high-end' performance if you look at the sheer numbers of cards in the range and how they are marketed. They are "lower high-end", more accurately.

Well put it this way: 2060 (non-S) is a teensy tiny bit faster than a 1070.

A 1070 might have been mid-high in the 10-series. It's not really (at all) high-end in the series after that.

A 2060 S is on par with a 1080. Again the 1080 was a high-end card in the 10 series, but in the series after it's at best a mid-high card.

However much nVidia pads out the lower end of their range, I don't think it's fair to expect xx60 and xx70 cards to be called "high end". Esp the xx60, which is where I've always bought, and I've never been close to a "high-end" buyer.

Ask people with 2080-Tis how they feel about the 2060 being "high end"

I'm fairly sure they'll laugh at the idea.

It's not just the number of cards in the range, it's the gulf in perf between the 2060 and the 2080S/Ti. A chasm.

Someone owning a 2080Ti not thinking a 2070 is high-end, doesn't change the fact that they are considered high-end. Same as someone owning a Bugatti Veyron not thinking a Ferrari is high-end. In the end, they are all still high-end premium cars.

The RTX 2060 - 2080 line are ALL Nvidias performance gaming cards, it's where the high-end starts and finishes and they are priced, sold and marketed as such. The only subjectivity being applied here is from you... and you are talking nonsense as usual. However lets agree to disagree as getting involved in circular arguments with you is the least appealing way to spend time on this forum that I can think of.

Which is a long winded way of saying that's your opinion and not a fact...

Plenty of people complained that the RTX 2060 was crap at RT, and a hugely pointless card. They went 2080+ for RT if they really wanted it, or went 1660 (etc) if they didn't.

2060 is actually something of an oddball, and almost nobody is holding it up as a "high end" card. Certainly not the 2070S,2080,2080S,2080Ti,Titan RTX users

The 2070 area is mid range, but certainly on the high end if you think about the total pool of PC gamers and the cards they may be using.

There's more of a case for the 2070 to be called "high end". I don't think there's any case at all for the 2060 tho.

I think this is a pretty good guess, when I saw that they cancelled the announcement, then heard rumours of August/Sept I thought I cba waiting that long, especially if they're only going to released the 80's this year, for which I'll have to wait to 2021 to get the price/performance ratio.

So I gave in and got myself a 2070 Super. My poor little GTX 560 (actually my friends because my GTX 460 gave up) is showing it's age and keep crapping out in scaled down games. So I figured I'd treat myself as it's done so well

Still interested in seeing what the 3000's bring though. Although maybe I'm better of just ignoring it once I get my delivery!

2060 being high end is just Nvidia branding and marketing, loads of old ****** basically to help Nvidia set new price points you don’t have to buy into their marketing just look at the numbers 2060 is not a high end GPU by any reasonable measure in 2020.

I expect there to be major price cuts once the consoles are released so it will behove Nvidia to get their GPUs out as early as possible so they can charge as much as possible.

Indeed - thinking cynically - Coronavirus will mean that a lot of prospective purchasers will not have been spending money while isolating so will be feeling flush once it's over. So a June launch is well on the cards.

One thing am so pleased about these days is that we no need an SLI setup to get decent FPS these days
(An SLI setup of top end cards would cost a fortune these days)

Plus a GPU can last much longer these days before needing to be upgraded
(But the new more powerful consoles being released at the end of the year may change this with new games over the next few years)

Even at £750 any GPU is still expensive for playing games.

Even if the 3080ti came out and was £749 it's still ludicrously expensive.

Think about it for a second. For a single component £750!

However we will all think 'OMG' its so cheap and buy it in droves based on what prices we have been experiencing recently.
