NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Really I thought 2.1 was hardware based ?

HDMI 2.1 will have a controller that's certified to do all the features.

But the old ones can still be reprogrammed to have the features added in at a later date.

The new LG oleds that just came out released with HDMI 2.1 and the 2080ti has already been patched to include the new HDMI 2.1 vrr feature and also can run the screen at 4k 120hz.

This is news article from last year with them talking about it and it was added in a driver update a couple of months back.

As long as the hardware that was originally added was powerful enough for the new features they can just be added in at a later date.

They run Chroma at 4:2:0 to achieve this iirc?

Yeah just saying they already added hdmi 2.1 vrr and if you really want to 4k 120 is doable, if they add some of the other features as well then upgrading just to get the new hdmi port might be bit pointless.

I'm not sure they would ever be able to unlock the full bandwidth of the 4k 120hz without the croma, I guess it depends on how good a controller the 2080ti actually has.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

My laptop just died after 3.5 years, not sure if it's the power brick or the laptop itself so need to do some testing, but this is some horrific damn timing. Why couldn't it have waited until Ampere and Zen3. :(

Been out of touch with this for awhile but seems like they have a big core (not sure if that is GA100 or 102) on Samsung 10nm while the rest of the line-up is TSMC 7nm.

That what i was thinking
He hoping a 3070 going be around £599-£699

Maybe he feels Nvidia is not charging enough for there GPU's and they need to raise there prices :D
No chance.

Surely even when the 3080Ti is out, 2080Ti will still be £900+?

Can you see the Asus ROG which is £1499 dropping 50%?

So the same performance as a 2080Ti but for £599-£699?

wasnt the cheapest 2080 ti around £900 before the covid19 price hikes ? so looking at around £400-£500. i paid £420 for my 1070 so hoping to get a 2080ti performance card around that price in the 3 series.

It was indeed, even some places were selling for Palit for £849, it’s now £1120 almost everywhere.

Considering the current climate, it wouldn't surprise me if the 3080ti was the best part of £1500.
There’s zero incentive for them to price it cheaper than the 2080Ti was on release which was £1299-£2000.

We should really see the same pattern again, Palit etc being around the £1100 mark with the top tier anywhere between £1400-£1700.

Which is generally the best value brand with a reasonably quiet cooler?
