NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

IDK, They seem to be drip-feeding performance while overcharging for what they are delivering...like Intel.

except that they have been leading the charge on the software front also.

RTRT
DLSS 1.0/2.0
VRSS (variable rate super sampling) for VR
SPS (single pass stereo) for VR

These are all in the one generation. Nvidia has done an impressive job is supporting the VR community while it’s still a niche.

Morning. Here we go again. Another full day, probably 6 or 7 pages. With no actual new info. maybe if we are lucky we get a link to some WCCFtech nonsense article. But we are certain to talk about leather jackets.

It's all adding to the hype train, mate. After deciding earlier in the month that I would sit this gen out again, I pretty much convinced myself yesterday that a 3090 is for me if it's got 100% performance over my 1080ti. :p

I'm enjoying the tease but the bum, lube and leather jacket references are wearing a bit thin.

Just wait until @Gibbo does a ;) thread, the place will go into full scale meltdown. I'm predicting Friday afternoon for that move.

I sat last gen out because it was dog ****. I've cash waiting for this gen but if they pull a shady with the price or the amount of VRAM I'll happily wait for AMD. ...I say happily... I wont be happy. But ill wait none the less.

Yes, this is also important and DLSS is imo a true game-changer that should really extend the performance capabilities and lifespan of cards when more games support it.

We can all get annoyed with the pricing increases, but you cannot doubt Nvidias technological prowess in both hardware and software.

Meh. I see gen on gen incrimental improvement. Haven't seen anything ground brekaing since 3DFX to be honest. Rather than prowess I see more like the iphone. great at first. but just milking incrimental improvements now for decades.

I remember people who got 2 x voodoo 2’s and ran them in SLI had more money than sense because they spent £300 on graphics cards that they could only use for gaming. I had 2 of those and was well smug :)

I dont think that drivers are the "simple reason" (lol) AMD are behind in sales etc... they probably barely factor into it.

AMD are only recently on a winning streak and have been behind Nvidia in technology as well as resources for a long time now. Additionally Nvidia has much more brand awareness, market share (80% or so) and marketing clout in the GPU space, similar to what Intel have historically (at least until relatively recently) enjoyed in the CPU space.

EDIT - Nvidia have 80% and AMD have 20% discrete GPU market share. That puts things into perspective https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gpus-gain-major-market-share-versus-amd-radeon-in-q2-2020/
What perspective? Increased spending during lockdown people bought what was available.
It includes laptops and most high speced laptops have an RTX super do AMD even have an equivalent? I haven't looked at laptops in a long time. If you want you can buy the full report and give us a proper breakdown to put things into perspective :D

It will be interesting to see what Nvidia put into laptops this time around because if the 30 series really are as power hungry as it appears, that won't work.

They might have to refresh the 20 series mobile parts to present something 'new' to the mobile market.

Realistically how many "gaming" laptops do people sell though? I mean compared to regular laptops which a large number of now have AMD APU's in them. Id love to know how many gaming laptops get sold for each normal laptop... 0.001%? less?

Lol IaI would say a lot more than that! a lot of people buy instead of a PC

It puts Nvidias market dominance and available resources vs what AMD have available to them, into perspective. It also explains Nvidias arrogance and ever-increasing pricing strategy.

It's not a close competition and AMD are stiil by far the underdog. I hope one day that will change, but likely not for some time yet.

Whilst I’m not offended my such matters the fact its not even off topic anymore is actually quite funny.

Would love to hear Jensen say “You need RT for your bunghole?” Just once :D
I'd like him to say.

"remember that time we told you you were getting 4GB Vram but actually you got 3.5GB LMAO"

Flight Simulator 2020 "Ideal" specifications are
8 GB vram
32 GB ram

3080 will have 25% extra. Panic over :p
Lol, yeah but the ideal spec is also a 2080 and a 2080ti gives 10-20fps over NYC on 4K ultra so I do wonder who or what wrote the 'ideal' specs, seems pretty far from ideal to me:D
