You're as bad as the tech channels. What is actually says is
"Keep in mind that the launch prices will likely be lower than the above listed ones. We expect the RTX 3090 to go for around $1,400 to 1,500"
AMD now have full permission to make a card as power hungry as they like, and no one will complain, oh no wait they will.
I live in hope, but not necessarily expectation.

Exactly.
Its as if NVIDIA are forcing you to get the 3090 if you want a truly next generation card. All the others will be outclassed comfortably by the 30 super series cards next year.
Marginally I believe. Though it runs a little hotter, which may not help Ampere...

Big difference between a power hungry card if it packs a punch and one that trails behind on performance while still running hot and power hungry.
