NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

If the 3080Ti comes out at a similar sort of price range it’s unlikely I’ll be upgrading for a while. Mainly due to price. But also because of how well my Ti copes. It’s been a card where I haven’t really desired for any more power.

That's been my experience, too. I'm gaming at 3440*1440 and my target FPS is 75+. Only a couple of games require me to drop settings; RDR2, Metro Last Light & AC: Odyssey. There are probably a few more, but I haven't encountered them. Even the latest COD:MW runs with everything max and looks stunning.

I suspect GPUs are close to a ceiling, or were close, in terms of raw performance. When you see "triple A" titles release and a 3 year old GPU cope effortlessly, you can understand why Nvidia started introducing gimmicks to stay relevant.

So yeah, turn some settings down if the prices are still stupid. :)

Agreed. I have most current gen consoles and apart from the switch I’ve hardly used any of them. The Xbox has next to nothing worth playing and to be honest, I’d take the switch over both my Xbox and ps4 pro any day.

Id buy the switch 2, if that came out. But won’t be buying a ps5 or new Xbox.

They are ok for a casual gaming experience but for me just don’t cut it when wanting to get the best experience for your time.

I can see why most pc gamers are still targeting 1080p 60hz though.

If you want the "best experience for your time" then you need to buy a PS5 and a PC because both all have their very distinct strengths and weaknesses. The Switch is in its own niche too.

And a Nintendo Switch.

That is what my plan is. Upgrade PS4 Pro to a PS5, get a RTX 3070 for my PC and I already have a Nintendo Switch. So sorted for a long time.

The x series x is a no go for me anyway due to its tower design, and majority if not all AAA games being available on pc.

PS5 is tempting but I have only really completed/been interested in a number of exclusives. Will see on launch with regards to performance and pricing I guess.

If it’s priced similarly to previous ps pro at launch then selling my ps pro and upgrading wouldn’t be too bad of an outlay.

Is that a serious question? Obviously they care about the gaming market.
Well I've read a few articles suggesting nV would be perfectly happy to move out of the PC gaming market completely, instead focusing on AI/ data centre/ professional.

I don't look at their accounts so who knows. I don't think it's a silly question tho.

Link to articles please instead of just casual mentions?

Nvidia's business and reputation was built upon and continues to be measured upon their gaming products as the largest contributor to their revenue... data centres and automatives etc are significant but still secondary. Simply do a quick google and educate yourself https://www.investopedia.com/articles/insights/121216/how-nvidia-makes-money-nvda.asp

^ He said "move out of the PC gaming market" and into automotives etc - are Nvidia doing that, making that transition? Maybe slowly? I genuinely don't know.

If the GPU prices are similar to what we have now I will not be upgrading.
I think PlayStation 5 is going to hurt to GPU market for sure. I can’t keep paying £1500+ for GPU every year or so. This could be the beginning of the end for Nvidia

It means you're forced to skip generations just like Intel chips, upgrading every generation is simply not worth it anymore the performance gains and retail prices have just crushed that pattern for the vast majority of PC gamers.

Truthfully if the PS5 nailed good keyboard/mouse controller support I would also start to question the value of PC gaming going forwards.

Yes, I skipped the 10xx generation. The gain per generation has really tailed off. Gone are the heady days of 70% - 100% improvement. The gains from my 9xx generation card weren't worth it and so that card lasted me three and a half years in my main PC (~£20 a month) and is still working fine in my backup PC. If my nephew weren't going to be getting my current GPU then I'd likely be skipping this generation.

I remember upgrading from Quake II software mode to Voodoo 1, that was pretty good :)
It made it like it was as good as a PlayStation!

I was thinking 30% improvement per generation is pretty good when you consider what's happening in CPU land.

Unlikely to see native mouse support.
The PS4 only accepts controller input, even if you use a mouse on a game that supports mouse like Fortnite - the console converts mouse input into controller input

Eh? First he said "Do nV really care about the gaming market?" and then he said "Well I've read a few articles suggesting nV would be perfectly happy to move out of the PC gaming market completely".

Why would they be "perfectly happy" to give up over half of their entire business? It's a non-sensical question without any thought behind it and Nvidia are in reality only putting more effort into boosting the gaming market.

Yes! I also want that TV haha

You should, they can’t really be beaten in terms of image quality for movies etc and gaming image quality is amazing.

Im personally not too bothered about the 4k 120hz aspect as for me it’s negligible with a controller over 60hz (don’t use mine with keyboard). And the VRR isn't something I’ve needed with a 2080Ti.

Main reason’s I haven’t upgraded to C9 from my E8. Likely I’ll wait for C10 or even C11.

However all great features if you are looking to buy a new tv for games.

Over half? Where did you get a breakdown of each business segment from? Got a link.
