NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I'll say it again: the reason console can be so powerful graphically for low cost is simple - they're buying wafers not GPUs! Comparing to GPU prices is simply misguided.

I'm very excited about VRS, it's a legit performance booster without destroying quality:

Honestly, there's no shortage of reasons to be excited about next-gen. Both visually and aurally (finally)! The one thing that's not gonna change much, I don't think, is AI, but that's more because you can't just add more horsepower to solve that problem. Now all that's left is to save up! ;)

The more chips you can fit on your wafer the lower Per unit production cost as the wafer is a fixed cost, the number of chips you can get out of a wafer is not.

Edit: My current understanding is after what happened with the original xbox both MS and Sony pay for a licence for the Chip/soc design from AMD. So over time when the yields naturally get better on the same node they pocket the money saved and not AMD.

So are you saying that there is nothing useful or truthful on that site? That's a rhetorical question by the way, because obviously there are useful and truthful articles on the site. It's a news and rumours site so just accept it will be used, choose not to click or read it and stop whining about it because I assure you no-one cares about any distress you feel when they are linked to.

Not absolutely everything, I’m sure a good 5% have some value to someone. Its not rumours though is it, most of the time its self-promotion of completely baseless made up nonsense in the absence of anything remotely credible. Thats not rumour that is making something out of nothing and by pure chance sometimes sooner or later something will transpire.

Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if they read this very thread as inspiration to make up more nonsense just off of opinion and conjecture.

Stop linking crap or else I’ll whine like a French farmer on EU grants and pension reforms

I thought AMD actually sells the SOC to Sony and MS under an agreed cost??

AFAIK TSMC and GF wafer allocations for consoles are to AMD anyway.

I guess it's what the ignore function is designed for... ciao! :D

Now looking forward to an Nvidia price reduction and hopefully a cheaper than expected 3080TI.

This is exactly what I wanted to see after not keeping track of gfx info for a few years (1070 still serving me well but upgrade savings pot itching to be spent:o:p) before anyone poos on the idea of Nvidia doing any price reductions I wont read any more posts:cool:... maybe:p

I'm hoping they absolutely shock us with the price, so absurdly high that people will just point and laugh :D
I was hoping that would have happened when they announced the 2080ti price but apparently people are buying it still so there is a market unfortunatelly I just cant justify the price myself. I found it appalling when it was 650 for top dog gpu let alone now...

They could up each tier by £500, and we'd still buy em in droves :p

I've been saving up to replace my 1070 and almost went for a 2080ti but am looking to get one of the new series (not necessarily a ti) but if they are even more extortionate now i'm going back to console.

I'm sure others still will but there's got to be many who hold my view too

They really need to improve price for performance!

If next gen GPU prices are silly I will just play majority of my games on the PS5 on my OLED and for any PC exclusive that needs grunt I will just buy the required GPU of members market, enjoy it for a few months and then sell it on again for minimal loss. As I do not play online, this is very easy to do and works for me.

what I really like about pc games is I can hide the HUD or use mods to hide the HUD, one I like it it's more immersive and secondly I also have an OLED
