Yes, but if the AMD offering is priced more competitively, then who cares what Nvidia releases next, because you'll still need a mortgage to buy it! :D

You see this is the problem - with Zen AMD is releasing updates on time,before Intel can react,and stealing the performance crown and getting mindshare. Before like RTG,the AMD CPU division was just plodding along with updates....RTG launch windows are all over the place now.

RTG has not even finished its 7NM line-up,ie,it has one entry level/mainstream 7NM GPU and one not very big mainstream/enthusiast level 7NM GPU launched,and its been over 6 months and we haven't see the top end launch at all. ATI/AMD used to have its full range top to bottom done within 6 months.

So even if this new Navi GPU beats an RTX2080TI,if they keep delaying it,it will be the equivalent of maybe an RTX3070 or RTX3080,and Nvidia will win mindshare with the fastest card,and also AMD will be boxed in with they can charge,which won't be great if its a big GPU and uses expensive memory.

I hope amd do catch but team green has this round again.all the talk of new consoles being 2080 super or upwards nvidia will lead the way with the ampere series again. I wish amd could give them more of a fight I glad to see amd have taken the fight to intel about time with there Ryzen cpus.
 
Nvidia would like us to focus on GPU names and ignore price/performance.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them stick the name "3080" on a 2060 super, charge 450, and claim they gave you what you wanted.
 
Some people including myself are always going to fork out that little bit more for the fastest gaming GPU on the market. With the amount of pixels to push in monitors now its justifiable, we all want 120+fps @ 4k with HDR10. Unless the 3080ti is ridiculously priced, like 50% on top of 2080ti prices I will buy one and I know others that will too. I hope AMD can challenge them at the very top because it will drive down prices.
 
The 2080Ti is ridiculously priced. It's performance uplift over the 1080Ti would have been a "decent" generational improvement had it come in at the 1080Ti price point.

i wouldn’t put anything past Nvidia now their credibility is shot. Show me the real world performance and price nothing else matters GPUs are a black box for accelerated graphic no more no less

I bought mine for £1k. Yeah it wasn't cheap but my 1080ti was £800. I sold that for £480-ish so it wasn't that expensive an upgrade. It did mean I could turn everything up to max in games where I couldn't with the 1080ti and keep up to my monitors 100fps. I don't regret a penny of the purchase.

Resale value on the 1080ti was amazing, which made the 2080ti buy less stingey.

I paid $800 for my AIB 1080ti, then sold it for $630, then paid $1530 for the 2080ti. Which brought the 2080ti net price to $900

If the resale on the 1080ti wasn't so good I would have never bought the 2080ti
