Nvidia and AMD DX12 Feature Levels ?

Just found a chart on Guru3D and wanted peoples input when it comes to feature levels.

Apparently the likes of the Fury X or any GCN 1.3 GPU is compatible with feature level 3 of DX12 where as Nvidias 980 Ti/Titan X is only compatible with feature levels 1 and 2.

Any truth to this ?

No. Binding tier isn't the same as feature level. Ti and titan have the highest feature level support, there are things on that chart listed as GCN compatible when it isn't. Conservative rasterisation is Maxwell only iirc, for example.

It doesn't matter anyway no one will programme extra stuff for AMD 'cos they have such low market share now.

People writing dx12 now will want it to work with as many cards as possible.

It might mean 3 years down the line the AMD cards stand up a little better, but are you going to buy a GPU based on that?
 
Featu‪re level is one thing, but how much of a performance hit is another. Like Hairworks, it might cost lots of performance trade-off for the sake of using some features.
 
I respect this kind of research, but without native DX12 games on our hands it seems almost meaningless.
Realistically what is it going to be? A few features in a couple of games in the next 12 months?

1 token game late this year (not sure if it's even full D3D12).

By the time the next proper game is out next gen cards will be out.
 
Hawaii, 290/390/X (GCN 1.1) does not support Conservative Rasterization, yet?

Its optional and remains to be seen if it will ever matter, if GCN 1.1 doesn't support it consoles don't support it, tho it may be something available at a later date through software.

why all the speculation ? I thought windows 10 already was released
its meant to include DX12, just need somebody to write a simple program or something using the API. I am not installing win 10 yet though so I am relying on other people to tell me if it improves the performance

So a paid Nvidia group made a chart to make AMD look better by stating they have more support than Nvidia ? Makes as much sense as the Pope wearing a mankini and dancing to the Macarena :p
 
It's all a moot point - whatever the consoles will support will be used in most PC games as many are cross platform. It also means I suspect any features the newer AMD and Nvidia cards have will not be that well supported unless they pay for it.
 
It's not a moot point at all, NVidia's GameWorks is a broad programme intended to speed up the adoption of NVidia GPU software/technologies. GameWorks will be sure to expose any features that AMD are lacking, like the way they have exposed AMD's weak tessellation.
