nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

Disagree with this mate.

It's a massive jump in FPS, and first big jump in a long time. Bar has been raised now it's upto AMD.. They could potentially bring this performance level hopefully down to a more affordable price level for people.

Def is exciting times :p. If AMD's new cards perform near this level at a lower price point.. Then we'll get some real progression across the board.

Looking forward to trying this card out ! Then whatever AMD brings to the table ..

Yeah mate I was not been sarcastic at all. ;)

I'm not impressed by them results especially if it hits above £800.

I've just blitzed my way through the Techspot review and it looks like an overclocked TX should do for 4K when paired with a GSync monitor.

It's def got a price premium but with no direct competitor to the card it is what it is.

Got to try it for myself, let's hope AMD can offer similar or maybe even better performance at lower price. Can always sell up and grab something else later on.

Titan x is only 36% faster than a 290x at 4k. I thought there would be a bigger gap here especially with those leaked amd slides claiming that the 390x can be around 50-60% faster. A pinch of salt with those slides though i suppose. Amd really need to get those crossfire profiles out as for a single card it does look pretty good compared to the 295x2 due to crossfire scaling being pretty poor. Some of the poor scaling is surprising though as we have some of those games here and scaling is way better.

if those benchmarks are true, then I am not very impressed. It's not a card that I would pay £900 for when I know in 3 months there will be a card released by Nvidia at a lower price that will perform just as well. And it might even perform better depending on how the 390/390x look on release.

I understood the hype surrounding the first Titan and nearly got caught up in it. It was an awesome card with fully function DP which made it even more attractive for buyers.

But this card is just a gamers card, SP only. Since everybody else is totally excited about this release and I seem to be the only one that's like "meh" Has it really come to this that a 36% performance increase is a big deal? And paying quite a hefty chunk of money for it as well.

So far there doesn't seem to be anything new or special about this card whereas the original Titan was special, first showing of the new cooler, full DP functionality etc.

I must be missing something about this card.

The reviews should be along soon and will see what the full story is.

Looking at some of the benching, looks like I'll be slightly better off in raw power with my 2 x 780Ti, but then there is the whole debate about the true value of SLI. Got to say, i'm not sure if it's worth selling my 780Ti's and grabbing one or just keep what I have. 1st world problems :p

thats 30% faster than a non overclocked 980 in some graphs ive seen so far
...980 can overclock hard

i want see overclocked results now...not convinced its that amazing either yet

Nvidia has used polarized capacitors (POSCAPS) to minimize unwanted board noise as well as molded inductors. To further improve Titan X's overclocking potential, Nvidia has improved airflow to these board components so they run cooler compared to previous high-end GK110 products, including the original GTX Titan.

Moreover, Nvidia says it pushed the Titan X to speeds of 1.4GHz using nothing more than the supplied air-cooler during its own testing, so we're obviously interested in testing that.

I think that's a good point. Without DP these aren't nearly as likely to hold their value. My 980 SLI setup is safe for now, I'm waiting for the 390X before jumping on to my next card.

I was expecting crazy 4K results on a card with 12GB vram. Could just be drivers but 30 fps in some games makes me question why they bother putting that much on it.

Looking at the FC4 numbers, if all cards can do 1.4 then a pair might be very good for 4K in some/most games. Assuming they used maxxed to the maxxx settings btw.

hmmm not sure what to think in all honesty. Is it a beast of a card, yes no doubt on paper. But those benchmarks really are rather meh to be fair, I'm not overly impressed for that kind of coin. I wasn't expecting incredible fps at 4k, but seeing under 30fps in some cases and under 60fps for every 4k bench strikes home just how far away from a card that can manage it we are.

The bigger surprise to me, was how average it was at 2560x1600. Not the numbers I was expecting at all, seems quite low in actual fact. And also the heat, looks like this card will get pretty hot under air.

I wait to see peoples benchies and reviews on here, but what I read in this review for that kind of coin, I'm actually pretty disappointed, was expecting much higher numbers.
