NVIDIA Colours

FFS then that is why they look them same LOL

Now go and record again with both GPUs at the default SETTINGS! And you'll see the difference everyone talks about.

Shankly Shankly Shankly - What are you doing? The guy in the OP was told what to do to get the colours correct, you have claimed this and that but I do have a bit of tech savvy about me and know full well that setting the RGB to full will give the best possible picture.

In the great words of the film "Frozen" - "Let it go" :D

Yes and I pointing out that by default people are not wrong when they say AMD has a better picture. I have said this all along!

Like most seem to say when this subject arises, I've also think that ATi / AMD's image quality is more vibrant / has a deeper contrast - which I happen to prefer. To help with this, I upped the digital vibrance in the NCP to around 58% - 60% (65 is a little too much for me).

In fact, I was only testing my old 7970 a couple of days ago, and noticed that Fallout 4 looked better with the AMD card in (not dramatically, but still noticeably so).

What we are caomparing is factory defaults. We all KNOW if amd have something set to a lower quality from the shop shelf they will get hounded for it but when it's nvidia we all defend it.

No we are not. We are helping the OP get his colours set correctly and it has nothing to do with hounding AMD. I have shown how I don't see a difference personally but then again, I know how to set full RGB.

This is your first post in this thread as well, so not sure where you get the "We" from?

I think the point is that phrasing it like this just isn't true. You can say that 'AMD provides accurate color range out of the box via HDMI when hooked up to a 0-255 display while Nvidia does not', but to word it like you have makes it sound like AMD is doing something special with their colors that is inherently inferior on Nvidia, when it's just a matter of changing a setting in Nvidia Control Panel.

That said, I do wonder how many realize this and play with Nvidia cards with Limited range...

You can clearly see a difference in color between AMD and Nvidia in this video. The Nvidia washed out effect is clear to see.

Please don't use Youtube as a basis for comparing IQ.

Why not for comparing colors. Assuming the same recording and PC was used i see no reason not to for colors.

In terms of colours and brightness its a fine comparisons. Shows the default presets fine! Its very clear the 970 brightness is set to limited

The only thing Youtube will change is the overall image quality bitrate etc vs the raw detail.

Oh really, you all seem to have missed the important thing here guys.

If the person doing the watching hasn't got his setup sorted out properly any comparison wont look right anyway.

I can see it now, some youtube video saying how the greens are so much better and the reds are so crisp and clear, and the poor guy watching it has everything coming out blue and doesn't know what the guy on the video is talking about.:p:D:p

I hate messing with themy sort of settings. When I got my latest monitor I checked out some advice about setting it to best colour quality and such. I found it to be far to yellow for me. Was like looking through net curtains outside a house that is full of smokers.was much better for me left at factory settings. I messed a bit and got it to a place I was more happy with afterwards.

It's one setting that as far as I can tell does not affect perrformance so why haven't they fixed it?

Edit - I said we as in us forums members.

He was most likely using the Nvidia defaults as has been pointed out. It's clear you can make Nvidia look the same as AMD but you have to change settings to do it. As Gregster says above how many people are just playing and not realising this. There is clearly enough doing so as it's clear a lot of people think AMD output better quality. Ati up until the 8800gtx arrived really did give superior image quality. Around here we know that the past sticks so some may think that's just the way it is and don't realise they can fix this.

I wonder how many people calibrate their monitors/TV with a proper calibration tool such as a Spyder 5 etc?

I've a friend who is into graphics stuff that has done a couple of my monitors and I do the rest by eye using them as a reference - which gets it close enough as I care.
