Why is it that when you uninstall the drivers for either manufacturer, you still get the same **** when attempting a re-install.

1) Uninstall drivers
2) Run DDU in safe mode
3) Attempt to re-install drivers
4) Loose patience over driver installers inability to detect services which aren't running

Seriously.....WTF!!!!!!!!!

Because people will insist on using driver cleaners then blame AMD/Nvidia when it goes **** up.

Just do a clean install via Geforce Experience?

Never had a drama doing it that way.

Didn't think of that and to be honest, there are nVidia features I've not bothered looking at yet with this being one of them.

I (for a 2nd time) uninstalled the standard display adapters under device mananger, rebooted and it worked

Ahh well!!

This issue arose after my monitor wouldn't display anything after a reboot. I'd need to disconnect the DP cable & unplug the monitor for the display to come back - hoping a re-install of the drivers would fix it!

Think it's because you have removed the drivers and on reboot windows will try to detect the new hardware and attempt to install/download a driver to get you going. That's why on first rebooting you may not be running at native resolution then the screen will refresh into native resolution(once hardware detection complete a driver is auto installed).
The error is nothing to do with nVidia drivers in fact it's good that they detect something is going on, rather than potentially trying to install and leaving you with problems(mix mash of drivers).

In future you could try disabling internet access when removing drivers and dont enable until you have the new drivers installed which might help. Or if you get the message just leave it a few mins then try again.

Are you referring to my most recent post?

The monitor would go black regardless - Example: I spent some time on the PC and do a quick reboot for what ever reason. Nothing had changed, using my DP cable with the nVidia drivers installed. Reboot it and then nothing. I'd have to disconnect the DP cable & the monitors power before anything would show. Doing one or the other wouldn't give back a visual. I initially thought my monitor was on the blink but I couldn't prove it. I'll see how it goes now I've managed to re-install the drivers!

Why was there a need to uninstall? I have both nvidia and Amd drivers installed, seems that I can swap my card out willy nilly and my PC just rolls with it :p

As above mate ;)

I had an issue with the monitor not giving a display randomly. Unplugging the DP cable & the monitor power fixed it which made me think about re-installing the drivers would help!

Only occured when I tested DSR!

You're a jinx Mart.... I have never seen that in all my years of being a raging nVidia fanboy :D

lol - he's to hoping the issue doesn't re-occur. Just want the 34" Acer Predator already!!!!!!!!

Nightmare when we get issues bud and I can appreciate when things don't work as they should. One thing I have noticed.... When I switched from Titans to the 290X, I had massive issues with the monitor and I bought a better quality lead but still no joy on the 290X getting higher than 85Hz however, I used to get the occasional monitor on and off (split second) issue (on the Titans) and would happen once in a blue moon (probs once a day) but after the new lead, I have not had that once.... Might pay to get a StarTech lead. That might help with the monitor problem at least :)

I had this problem op. Its not the driver. Its because after you've uninstalled the previous drivers, when windows boots up for the first time its little hardware wizard starts running in the background.

Give windows 30 seconds on boot up and then run the Nvidia driver exe.

---

However you don't need to run DDU.

Uninstall and reboot each driver component as required.
Once all Nvidia stuff is uninstalled deleted the folders in program files. (You might need to rename one of the folders and reboot before windows allows you to delete it)

Once thats done wait 30 seconds if windows has just booted and run the installer.
