nvidia freesync over hdmi

im not talking about hdmi 2.1, im asking about 2.0 and 1.4 and if they will implement the non spoec vrr associated with these two versions, i already know about the hdmi 2.1 and vrr becoming apart of the actual spec, you seem to have missed the point. :)
Don't count on it. The implementation from AMD's side is a proprietary custom protocol which I'm fairly sure Nvidia won't be able to adopt, not that they want to anyway with HDMI 2.1 starting to become the new norm.

that was my thinking to be honest, which is a shame but i cant change the monitor right now and im not willing to drop the sync tech. :( owell.

I'll be going back to AMD if freesync isn't supported on my Samsung Q70R tv then. I'm not holding out much hope now though. It's a real shame if so as I was all set on Nvidia 3080 I haven't owned an Nvidia card for a long time. Well I hope big Navi is going to be competitive.

i suspect many of us are in the same boat now... i was looking at a 3070, waiting for big navi now then i guess.

another question/thought ive had is, will amd drop support on the older specs hdmi 1.4 and 2.0 on newer cards now 2.1 is a thing, i cant see it? fingers crossed this isnt the case i cant see amd not doing it...

looks like he has the samsung q8dn which has a hdmi 2.0b port, vrr was optional on that, so really its still not really any help, since we need 2.0 or 1.4 working to be sure. im pretty confident it wont work at this point. but happy to be wrong
