nVidia G-Sync Q&A with Tom Peterson

Then you arent going to be using gsync at all, as that still limits the fps to 144, if you want 300fps regardless of any other factor then you want vsync off

But for people who dont like tearing or stutter, gsync is a massive improvement over vsync

Ive never even played CSGO so i really couldnt care less

Don't think I'd say massive, but it's an improvement for sure.

Even BF4 and BF3 feel different to me with sync on vs off even tried capping to 120fps and a unlocked FPS just feels different.

Everything seems more smoother and 1 to 1...

Indeed but you would not be able to tell the difference if you were watching some else play it, because it can be more about feel than about the visual.

I don't think G-Sync will be for you Shankly. FreeSync will be far superior for you bud ;)

Edit:

I am joking of course Shankly.

Fast-forward 1 year and we'll all have sync screens and wondering how we lived without. Funny to think about. :)

Maybe not that soon but going by users of G-Sync, they are claiming they couldn't go back to normal, so looks that way. Freesync/G-Sync will improve games, so it's deffo the future.

If that is the best BS tommy can come up with ignore it Greg, how is the presenter clicking the Metro shortcut twice so making a boob anything to do with Tom?

Also why highlight the "Less Lag" part as they have said that to cover the few games like CSGO that it does have a tiny bit of lag while other games have "No Lag".

If they had put "No Lag" in slide then Tommy would be crying saying "CSGO has some lag"!

I do not see how the OP is misleading of baiting posting an article.

His sig says it all.

I know you said you joking. But tbh I dont care for this tech. I have explained this over and over Sync Free Gaming ftw :D

Couple reasons, have already been talked about above.. Its not just input lag, its network latency that gets effected.

Well there's 2 ways Gsync can add latency:

1) Another link in the chain, could be adding that 1-2ms vs vsync off?
2) If your game dips to 60 FPS, then you drop to 16.6ms latency

The trade off of course is stutter free and zero tearing, even helps micro stutter which I noticed mostly int he valley benchmark.

Combating latency is simply a case of a higher refresh rate, and apparently gsync is only bound by lower ranges to prevent things looking like crap (which I get), but it'd also depend on if the module could handle something like 240Hz.

2) Is wrong, he states if the FPS get low the monitor is still updated at 8ms (somewhere near the 1/2 way point of video).

Also means you benefit more from a 144HZ Panel+Gync than a 60HZ Panel+G-Sync even when the FPS drop well bellow Panels MAX Refresh Rate (57mins 05sec in the video).

EDIT : Video 40mins 15secs in for #2 above (uses 40FPS/40HZ as example).

Well, there are a lot of people who are interested in this tech and I was posting that video for them. Not sure why people who have no interest are constantly posting if I am honest.

Reason for posting, this a open forum for discussion is it not? So am free to post reasons why I dont like something freely and then maybe also learn things doing so. Because I dont know everything, so yeah I also here to learn.

When I say no interest thats abit of a lie, because I do really want to try this out for myself. what I mean is its not something I am missing at this moment and I can happy keep gaming without it.

:D

I have an interest in Gsync/Freesync, got AMD/Nvidia gpu's, why wouldn't I be interested?

Talk about honesty after being disingenuous, awkward.

I think he meant it more of "you don't need to justify your reasons for not liking gsync in every thread its mentioned" :P
