NVidia GameWorks - Is it AMD's fault?

Well if you had watched it, you might of had a point and as the OP requesting you watch it before commenting kinda makes you miss the thread point!

Dude you need to remember, This is the GPU section and people LOVE to be difficult just to cause a confrontation.

Indeed lol. I welcome everyone's opinion good or bad on the topic but at least watch the video before making a comment lol. I personally would have liked to have seen Mantle in its old guise still going strong and it was a good selling point for AMD GPUs. I do think AMD struggle with resources for obvious reasons and can understand why they passed it on but I do feel they should have stuck with it.

Are nvidia playing dirty with gameworks. Yes. Is it AMDs fault. Yes and no. He has a point. They could have stuck with mantle and at least avoid going through gameworks but instead ditched it and sat on hands waiting for dx12.

On a side note I think nvidia should at least include a simple gameworks on/off setting in the graphics settings even for nvidia users with less power to run the games.

As for Mantle being aborted... lol, from day one anyone with a little bit of sense knew exactly where AMD was going with it. Establish an API, prove it works, add support for some cards to prove it works, release a final version and then hand it off to a group to control it. I said literally within days of it being talked about that would be the end goal. AMD discontinued direct Mantle support once they literally handed it to OpenGL and let MS have a look at it. They stopped massive development on it the second it achieved what it was set out to do, cause an open standard move to a significantly better API.

Mantle achieved what it was supposed to entirely, it brought around a complete industry wide shift in gaming API support. What would they do with Mantle today... get MS and Khronos to make a new low level API.... oh wait.

I'm not so technical in all matters AMD V Nvidia but all this money/effort to get the software and hardware up and running to just give it away?? especially a company losing so much share/money??

they must have had a massive payout from the likes of MS?

Video reviews are pointless and needless aggrovation.

Takes like half a second to load a text page and find the pertinent info. I hate the youtube generation.

What I do like are the videos etailers do for new cases and such, showing all the angles in more realistic lighting than promo shots. Everything has its use, but listening to an e-celeb witter on about his worthless take on some errant tweet someone made somewhere over a video bed of CoD footage is not useful to anyone.
