** NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 900 SERIES PRICE DROP!! **

Not really. You get the odd derisory offer but in general its about right and dont foeget will always be 10% less than Ebay due to fees etc.

Of course people are more clued up on this forum rather than the blind monkeys on Ebay.

At the moment people are bidding up and buying same model 980ti for more money used than you can currently buy new from ocuk. Are you suggesting that MM members should offer you more than new for your second hand card?

Just cause there are idiots on Ebay, that doesnt make it the proper going rate/value of the item.

And equally I have seen quite a few people on here buy 980ti privately for much less than what people want for them on MM atm and esp Ebay. Ebay are just joke prices atm but great if you are selling. With the recent price drops people are expecting too much money for their 980ti on MM atm. I mean really, who thinks a 9 month old second hand card which costs £399 new atm is still worth £370? That was a valid price until last week when there were still £619 new.

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29619588&postcount=16

Again though, that's single card to single card. An existing 980ti owner would benefit from purchasing a second hand 980ti for the £300 mark and blow a single 1070 and 1080 out of the water for performance. Plus overpaying now for the inflated prices of both the 1070 and 1080 will only mean when the 1080ti's arrive the same situation will happen of people trying to barter down the price of these cards and heavy price drops will be expected.

Its never ending cycle

not true. At max OC on both cards the 1070 trade blows with the 980ti and still has a 12% lead in The Division which might be a sign of things to come that the 1070 will become faster in all new games over a 980ti and the 1080 OC still has a healthy 20% lead as well.

So go buy a 1070 instead of annoying sellers of 980Ti's on The MM with silly offers, if you believe that... :D:p:rolleyes:

The 1080Ti is going to be a joke of a price... £800-£850.. all you have to do is take the x70 FE price and x 2 = the X80Ti price as it always has been done that way by Nvidia.

All the ones buying this range are only encouraging this to get worse. I can understand if you need a new card and don't have one but people updating from 980Ti or Titan X for a midrange card at this silly price are just being daft really and only allowing Nvidia to keep bumping up the prices. I will not support this behaviour from Nvidia and I really do hope AMD give them a good kicking this round, BUT sadly I think AMD will also price their top end parts to silly prices.

I don't think that anyone is saying that. The issue is offering quite a bit lower than 300 for a card that is still sold new for 449. As for the 1070. You would not beat these non ref clocking 980ti's with the 365 1070. You'd need to pay over 400.

No one is expecting almost new prices for cards, but they are expecting some fairness. It's clear that there have been people recently who want to dictate the price of second hand cards. Some of them are going around all the selling threads telling everyone how clever they have been for how much they managed to just buy one (although they don't make it clear where they got it).

Threads are full of sale disruption at the moment and the Dons should do something about it.

People will offer what they think an item is worth. The seller does not have to sell at the end of the day.

Tech moves on and new models come out and push the price and desirability of the old models down.

That's life I'm afraid.

If that's all it was it would be fine but its not. As I said it some members trying to dictate prices to suit them with no sign of any fairness towards the seller. It's not the odd offer either. There are a number of offers of 275ish for cards that beat 1070's and not a million miles behind the 1080 still being sold for 449.

They are old gen, old tech now. That's all they are worth second hand now.

Nothing sinister there.

Soon enough the offers will drop further as new cards come out. That's how it works.

With the 1070 at £350, there's no way the 980ti is worth more than £250 second hand in my opinion.

If people refuse to sell their second hand 980ti's cheap enough, people will just go and buy a 1070 instead. Simple.

Well said. Also the current 980Ti price drop is because Nvidia are giving retailers £100 for each sale, this is why they have come down from anywhere from £100 to £70. End of July back to normal prices, then the ones wanting one will regret they didn't just buy one now and new and stop annoying the sellers with silly prices. Things have a real value.. No matter what some of the MM buyers think. You honestly think because of this price drop MM and Ebay sellers are going to drop £100 ? knowing they are going back up at end of July ? No chance... Only winners here are the retailers and new buyers as they (retailers) make zero loss the real payout is £500+ for the cards for retailers as Nvidia gives them £100.. Only other person that wins is the new customers wanting new as the price drop is nice and in most cases you can buy one to SLI with your old one that match exactly and not having to buy a 2nd hand one that is not the same as the one you have currently.

Sorry no. Its all about the numbers in games and this old tech stuff is all b*******s from people trying to dictate the prices. You stated the 980ti's will be £200 soon which is frankly laughable. :)

Anyway it is what it is. The Dons not doing anything will just put people off the MM.

By the way I'm not saying people should be getting 90 or 80% of the value of the card. If I currently had 330-350 and needed a card I'd much rather have a nice clocking 980ti from the MM than add another 15-35 for one of those cheap 1070's.

You have a very skewed idea of how things work. New and shiny is what is desirable. Look at the number of people who upgrade to the latest and greatest when they don't need to.

People just don't like admitting that something they paid £500 for is now only worth £250.

That's life.

Keep telling yourself that, but again you are not the type of customer that buys high end parts .. at high end prices clearly. Also you have been one of the vultures on the MM destroying the place.

What you don't realize this behaviour you are doing will only lead to sellers never offering you anything even if you bid the asking price. I know for sure who to sell to and who deserves to have my items. So guess what, when I do get round to selling my 980ti ... you will never get it as I would rather give it to someone that deserves it and doesn't behave in this manner you do.. You need to grow up a little or actually start earning your own money so you know the real value of purchased items.

You are just missing the point completely. I upgrade video cards when i don't need to all the time and will buy the new Titan when it comes out. Its purely about treating other members fairly.

Wow, how self righteous do you sound?

I just wait for the going rate to drop to what I'm prepared to pay for something. That's all.

I'm a good honest member here and always pay up and always sell quality parts in good working order.
