** NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 900 SERIES PRICE DROP!! **

People on eBay have no clue what they are worth, probably don't even realise they have been superseded by the 10 series yet.

I haven't said anywhere that they are only worth £200 currently. All I have said is that is the price I am waiting for.

I have a 780 that does me just fine while I wait for the market to reach the point where the going rate for a 980ti is £200.

It's simple, if you don't like the price, don't buy. Quite a few insulting offers on mm though because some idiot thinks that because new gen comes along that the price should be halfed when buying used. Those people should be banned from mm tbh

Community spirit? Hasn't had that in years lol

looking at completed listings on ebay though, the going price (after ebay fees ) is between £315 and £350. I'm not able to see the MM as I have lack of posts but if I were to sell my Ti's that's the current going rate to me not £200 - £250 which seems to be whats being posted here. I'm all for community spirit, but there's and element of price gauging for the benefit of a second hand user which doesn't seem in the flavour of community spirit to me.

There has maybe being the odd silly offer of £275 even before the price cuts. What we are agruing about here are offers like mine of £300 and some people insisting that £350 to £400 is still a fair selling price.

If you are correct that £315 to £350 is the Ebay selling price less fees then I think offers around £300 on MM are not derisory which some people seem to be saying. and that was before the £100 price drop on new. I would expect Ebay prices to drop £30 to £40 now making them a £280 to £320 range.

£275 might be pushing it on the low side but you will always get people chancing their arm.

Clearly £200 is ludicrous and I have not seen anybody make an offer of £200.

..and that there in is another factor. 980Ti are obviously quite desirable now given the performance of the 10xx series, so a lot of people are looking to SLI rather than trade 980Ti for 1080 (the latter of which makes absolutely no sense performance wise!)

A desirable card has no reason to lose value.

All tech loses value. You are in the wrong hobby if you don't realise that.

I certainly haven't made any derisory offers on the members market.

That is not my style.

I wait until the asking price is what I am prepared to pay.

hey just letting everyone know I paid £450 for a used 980 ti 2 days ago & im 110% sure I can get my money back on it when I come to sell it when my 1080 order comes through, the current 1070 I have now is epic but I need the extra horsepower @ 3440x1440.

this 980ti card ill use while I wait for the 1080& a sell the 1070 to a friend.

the people selling 980tis for cheap don't have a clue of its real value, ive had many many cards and the 980ti was the first true card I was like WOW this card is powerful, its my favorite card to date and think its one of the best gaming cards made to date, sadly new tech comes along and people lose their mind but doesn't change the fact that maxwell is the true overclockers dream and is an absolute beast when overclocked.

:)

Which 980ti will you make £450 back on though? Unless it's a Kingpin I highly doubt you'd make £450 back.

The EVGA 980ti FTW is £430 on OCUK and that's not second hand.

I have never understood people who go sli. Nothing but hassle, heat, driver issues and inconsistent performance.

Sell your old card, buy a new one is the only way forward in my opinion.

Sli is a total ball ache.

I never understand who has issue with SLI.

Ive got 2 hybrid 980ti's at 1450 MHz, and have a Phanteks Primo case. If you have the right airflow no problems with heat for me (neither go above 50 deg).

As to drivers, again some games are not right at launch, but ive not come across a game that I play ( standard AAA titles) that have had any issues or support further down the line.

You either like SLI or you don't, but at the moment I certainty have no issues with my setup that has given me achy balls :)

I don't believe the new doom works with sli?

Many games do not work with sli long after release.

You also need a serious PSU to run two top end cards.

It's just not for me.

Coming from someone thats never seen two or more cards together .... LOL...

You will never stop... wow they really need to put an age limit on these forums or an IQ test.

I think the bottom line is these forums like many others are used by people for advice and guidance. Sweeping statements regarding SLI, newer tech being the only way to go, and that prices must drop, can incite bad feeling when there are so many options someone can take.

There is no right way or wrong way just how deep your pockets go.

Also, by the time 980ti's come to £200, I'm sure used 1070's and 1080's would only be another £50 to £100 more, so wouldn't you just go that route as they are newer tech for only a fraction more?

All you need for two top end Nvidia cards with a TDP of 250w is a 850 watt PSU and you still have enough headroom to OC the CPU and GPU's comfortably. A lot of people over buy on a PSU regarding its wattage.

My system with the monitor and PC connected with full OC on CPU and GPU only drew under 500 watts from the UPS fully loaded gaming, if I stress the CPU and GPU at the same time it can hit 550-575watts with everything maxed out full OC and monitor connected and check the spec of my pc a lot of drives and a lot of fans in a huge case... 850 watt is the perfect size for a high end SLI, gives you loads of headroom..

A decent 850 watt PSU starts at £95.

What on earth are you talking about

I think you need to rein it in a bit buddy or the ban hammer will be coming your way.

It's like buying a brand new Ferrari and then getting angry that it's nearly halved in value when you come to sell, it's what happens with high end, they depreciate a lot faster. People asking £400+ for their 980ti would be insanely lucky to land that sort of price now.

Actually, you'll find the that true "high end" of the Ferrari range actually appreciate in value...
