Damn! i was kind of expecting these to be pretty tame but if they OC as good as Gibbo says i may be forced to pick one up. I'm kind of attached to my 780ti's and 290's though so don't want to part with them :(

Gonna give my 780 Ti to my sons for their PC. Think I'll sell of some of the lower end cards we have here, and some other bits and bobs.

750 Ti is already on MM. Got a passive R9 270 as well, goodbye...

Hello GTX 980 :D

You'd have to be a little crazy to move from a titan/780/ti/black/290/290x to one of these.

Not so bad if you have multiple PC's or you just fancy playing with the latest tech. A lot of peeps just buy to benchmark, so always get the latest stuff.

If you're just gaming and have 1 PC, there would be no reason to have bought any GPU in like the past 3 years lol. A GTX 580 is arguably all you would need :p

I have a feeling a lot of guys will make the switch from 29X / 7XX once other people get them and GTX 980 starts taking over the benchmark tables :D

Oh i agree, i enjoy benching but only to a point, my rig is for gaming forst and formost, i went to the ti's from a 7950 crossfire setup , the performance increase was huge just with one card and in sli it's pretty insane. I like to think that i'm a pretty savvy shopper when it comes to pc tech, i've personally never been one for incrimental upgrading, i just see it as wasted cash.

Yeah and this is the case for 90% of people, if you're just using a PC for some gaming and web stuff, any GPU from the past 3 years is good enough tbh.

Then there is that 10% of enthusiast who like to bench and run the latest gear, will always swap it out for the next latest thing. When you think major launches are every 6-12 months, as long as you sell your old parts off, it's not really that expensive. People can spend more on cigarettes, drink or fast food than you would lose of selling your parts and buying new ones..

these seem interesting, but for 780 ti owners will it be much difference, the 780 ti in the benchmarks is only 876 mhz whereas the 980 is 1126 mhz, but my ti auto boosts to 1205 mhz, so surely it would take one hell of a boost to beat that. only time will tell i suppose, i am tempted to get 2 of them though if the price is right.

It's looking to be about 10% - 15% faster than the 780 Ti, with possibly more overclocking headroom. Much less power consumption, and a few new exclusive Maxwell features. Whether they can be added to Kepler with a driver update later on who knows?

Not a bad card at all, stop gap until 20nm eventually gets here..

If I get one, I'll be clocking the nuts off of it :D

Not crazy at all if GTX 980 really sells for £350 ish @ launch as Nvidia knocked the price down at the last minute & it really offers much better power consumption it will be a killer card & devalue the entire current high end single GPU market (except for Titans they are always an exception due to compute performance).

Suddenly you have last years high end become mid range literally over night as price per watt on 980 is superior & performance on drivers will improve a little. I think its unlikely Nvidia would launch these @ a major self promoted/funded event if they were not something worth upgrading to.

I love my GTX 780 Ti but I can admit its power hungry as it needs to run on recent games @ high watts to power my 2560x1080 Ultra Wide monitor maxxed out ;)

Agreed.

I like trying out the latest stuff, and don't hold onto long enough to worry about it. The longer you keep stuff the more value it loses, so really whichever way you do it you will lose money eventually.

Your either a person who likes to stay at the current end of tech, or your not. I don't think either type really cares what the other does tbh.. I know I certainly don't :p

Looking forward to the proper reviews now, I don't think IGN counts :D
