Im not sure why they would release the card with the same number of cores and just half the Vram. Doesn't make sense to me.

If the yields are near 100% and all are full chips why not sell it at a higher price point in a Titan X than put it into a cut price offer.

I think closer to release we will find out that it will have a smaller core count, or they will cripple the bus or something.

Here we go, has 12GB at 1440 now 6GB is not enough. It's well enough.

I've been saying 8GB min for ages.. Don't be lame :p

And obviously if I thought 6GB was enough I would just go with a 6GB card

6GB is ample for 1440P.

No it's really not. 8GB should be standard for new cards.. It's 2015, 1440P / 4K need more vram. Jeezus some games at 1440P can use 6Gb already..

Du'h, The 980ti will be DP compute crippled, so instead of 1/32 FP 64 performance it will be I presume around 1/256 FP 64 performance.

So Titan X worth the cash as a cheap DP compute card with the massive 0.2TF FP64 performance. For half the price you can get a 980ti that has only 0.025TF FP 64 performance making it a useless DP compute card by comparison.

;) :p

This is direct 390x competition. Partners will have been notified of this long before today. Why would they wait?

I'm saying if he was living in Australia and heard it was coming in summer, that would be 8-12 months away, not that he's right ;)

Take a Titan X and put a cooler on it with 980ti on it and you have the same card, just half capacity memory chips. There is no physical difference, they could launch it today, the core is identical, everything is identical. Nvidia didn't release it because they want to get all the people who can't help but throw money away to pay way more for the card today and in the next couple of months. If they launched the 980ti at the same time then probably 80-90% of Titan X buyers would get the £200-300 cheaper 980ti instead. £50 more memory on it at the most, charge £300 more for the same piece of silicon that will perform the same as no game will come close to using 12GB.

Sounds about right. The 780Ti was essentially the same as the Black performance wise. This is the card that will probably replace my 780.
