Why would Nvidia bring 980Ti up to Titan X performance? What the hell is wrong with you Nv? They must have been high as a kite when they made that decision.

They've got to sell the dies with the small manufacturing defects somehow, if they disabled too much and sold it too cheaply they'd be hurting GTX980 sales and making less money on the bigger GM200 cores. I guess they have already made most of their money on the Titan X, I always see the Titan as a card aimed at those who want cutting edge technology before the rest of us plebs. :p

No problems with the TXs @2160p maxed it averages about 60fps with the mins and maxs close to the average and feels very light and lively when playing.:)

Using maxed settings with 4 cards has the effect of compressing the mins and maxs around the average @2160p which is nice.:)

Sums up what I want at 1440p with G-Sync. I don't like those massive frame drops down to teens from 70+.

If I can get my mins around 60fps while maxed out I'll be a happy chap.
I haven't felt the "need" to anything like this since the 8800GTX and Ultra were top dogs :D

With 4 Titan X's you're even good for future 4K 144Hz screens. :D

Yeh same boat here, I came from from Q6600 and 8800 GTX. If only the 980 TI's can live up to the same and i'l be happy enough, those cards were absolute beasts.

True but most people bought it for gaming anyway, this version of the titan has had its nads chopped off in that respect.

Quite true! I was extremely excited for the Titan X as both a super gaming card and very useful for CAD and Solidworks, but then they chopped DP.

It seems it's actually a Maxwell issue overall, as the latest Quadro doesn't even support Double Precision. Hell a GTX 580 beats both in it, they're that bad.

I miss massive jumps at 'okay' prices like the 8800GTX brought us. I remember only having had my 7950GX2 for 2 weeks before replacing it with the 8800 GTX. It lasted for ages, until Folding killed it and BFG sent me a 8800 ULTRA as replacement :D

The only people who justified buying the original Titans for DP were the critics, the people who actually bought them did so purely for gaming.

Having said that the original Titan is still in demand by people who want to use them for DP which is nice.:D:)

I think the sensible thing for me to do is sit and wait to see how good AMD's flagship is.

No point going TX > 980ti > AMD flagship and losing cash twice.

Agreed, just wait it out for a while, I'm planning to do the same. I want a card with an AIO pre fitted, so EVGA 980 Ti / Titan X Hybrid's look nice and whatever AMD's Fiji ends up like. Like you though I'm worried about losing money in the re sale, so just have to wait out and see what's what after all cards are released.

They didn't look to have much power or space headroom for it on 28nm. For DP they brought out a refined kepler GK210 with improvements like increased cache as the interim DP part until presumably Pascal on a smaller process.

Even if it outperforms the Tx/980ti, I can't see it being enough to make it worth the upgrade if you already have one or the other.

I think as i'm going SLi/CF for this one, 980Ti is the way to go, although AMD may beat it, is their crossfire profile business going to get better? And i want to see what the Nvidia fuss is all about :D

I want to watercool them myself so none of this hybrid for me i don't think.
