Don't feel bad, the majority of us are enjoying our TX's now and not worrying about what's coming in at least 3 months time. There's always something new around the corner.

Don’t think titan owners have much to feel bad about, people said the same when the 780TI was released; the ‘980ti’ will have its place and for some it will be the better option, but if you want to run that 4k monitor or tri-screen setup , 6gb of vram is not going to cut it for very long before you have to start compromising on settings.

After a point, it's detrimental as you're seen as a 'budget' option. Undesirable to many, whilst others expect unrealistic price / performance ratio.

Stella was considered a budget option, they then increased their prices 50% and marketed themselves as a premium beer. They enjoyed massive growth with fantastic margins.

Lowering costs can certainly be very detrimental because you end up with both way smaller margins and potential negative marketing image. In the long term it is very bad because the low margins will inevitably lead to reduced operating income and reduced future R&D.

A business really wants to be like Apple, increase product quality a little with minor expense, increase consumer cost massively and get huge profit margins the competitors can only dream about. The high prices and high quality leads to circular positive reinforcement of brand image.

I despise Apple but that is how you want to run a business, not racing to the bottom and enjoying single digits margins.

I remember the Stella adverts, they really made you thirsty.

And is it me or did all beer ads use the same formula in the 90s, rustic setting with old men going to extreme lengths for a pint (Guinness swimming race springs to mind).

Very well said, sir.

you cant compare beer and mobile phone markets ( i know apple makes other products) to the two horse race that is desktop graphics;)

same card but reduced RAM.........if so this is the one to go for but to make sure it outsells the 390x it'll have to be the same power as Titan X.

what can AMD do about this ? not much, only beat it on price, but this wont work because this will be Titan X for only 500 to 600 quid and therefore almost impossible to resist.

finally, i sense it'll be on sale sooner than you think.... a new card is usually leaked (as said earlier on today), 2 weeks before its release

AMD are in real trouble now and they only have themselves to blame, because this silence will drive everyone to buy Nvidia instead, well before June, leaving only a small market for AMD to fill

1080 likely to be saved for die shrink?

why shrink it because it's not cost effective to do so....... just give them the TX with less ram and redo the cooler cover...............simples !!!!!

i bet the card is already finished and waiting to be shipped right now...

so it's way too powerful for 1080p ???? who the hell cares :D:D:D

no reason for titan owners to be worried back then,

6gb was substantial increase over cards with 2gb and 3gb cards
plus the titan could be overvolted and overclocked higher .. also it had DP
which was a great added advantage to its name.

This current titan is just a pure gaming card with a ton of memory slapped on it

also the 780 ti came out 8 months after the Titan was released, this 980 Ti seems to be closer to home.

and if they say its a full Chip.. well 6GB is still enough for many resolutions

this is when the classified cards and matrix come out to play.. its going to be fun :p
