    Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

I dont understand why are you so protective over mentioning the competitor websites, is it because they offer cheaper prices? Or the fact that they are giving bunch of gifts with new gpu’s... we are all here because we truster you with our money and all we can do is sit patiently waiting for our que to come up, while competitors take strong control with decent updates, larger stocks and better support. So please dont blame us for looking

The rule has nothing to do with the current situation, it has been in place for many years now.

Everyone agreed to respect it when they registered for the forums and there has been considerable leniency in the moderation of this thread in particular, but it will get closed if the mods warnings are ignored...
 
If people keep discussing or hinting at competitors this thread will be locked again. We have warned people enough times and it is even in the thread title. Read the forum rules if you are unsure. As a recap I have posted the relevant information from the forum rules below.

We, Overclockers UK (OcUK) are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwidth which is paid for exclusively by us. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-

  • Posting links to direct competitors websites (i.e. other computer e-tailers)
  • Posting links to computer related products at general retailers (e.g. Amazon, Argos, Tesco etc)
  • Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
  • Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
  • Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
  • Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
  • Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
  • Listing competitors names, URLs or e-mail addresses in signatures
  • Listing competitors names, URLs or e-mail addresses in profile
  • Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
  • Disguising attempts to do any of the above

While yes I agree with this wholeheartedly at the end of the day this is on OCUK, others have vastly more information to people available even if you haven't purchased a card from them specifically.

People are getting irritated (myself included) with the very vague and uninformative updates we are getting. Maybe just maybe if we had clearer updates people would be less likely to start mentioning competitors and how much of a better job they are doing?

Now I understand that Gibbo is doing what he can with multiple product launches but maybe management at OCUK could maybe give him some staff under him to do a better job seeing as it seems like he is trying to juggle this mess by him self, if he already has staff under him what on earth are they doing,, nothing?. Yes I am not ignoring the fact covid is a thing but im pretty damn sure that liaising with manufacturers and wholesalers (see exertis for EVGA) and giving us regular updates is achievable while WFH?

at the end of the day it so far has been a very poor showing from OCUK and I can also agree with the people of the forums that are rightfully annoyed
 
I didn't see any competitors names thrown in here, only discord, twitter and telegram links for search bots. These are not competitors and therefore no rules were broken imho

The forum rules are the forum rules. If you have an issue with the shop then contact them directly, use the customer service section of the forum or post in this thread which is all good. We moderate the forums to the rules set down, we are not shop employees.
 
we should just open a subreddit where we could speak freely about the situation here and on other retailer sites. I thought this forum is something like a community where we would help each other

I fail to see how OCUK are losing out in this case. They have more pre-orders than they can possibly service due to the lack of stock they are receiving. If they lose one buyer, the another is just going to move up the queue. very few people are going be willing to wait months to have their card. the OCUK orders are mostly just a backup plan in case they can't get it elsewhere. Having said that though, I do respect the fact OCUK pay for these forums, so if they choose to disallow this specific activity that's up to them. Alienating customers be enforcing this rule may not be the best plan of action though. People are already annoyed at the handling of this.


If you didn't do a **** poor job of keeping the community informed people would have no reason to talk about competitors

It is no issue, I do not like having to delete post's etc. I think we can all agree that we all want the cards asap! If we can all stick the the rules then we are all happy.

We would all be happy if gibbo stuck to what he said about updating us.

Oh yeah I 100% agree with you there, if im right im guessing you guys get no recompense for moderating this mess, so I don't blame you lot for getting annoyed when people break the pretty obvious rules, I'd have loved my card like a month ago now seeing as I ordered on release day.

But I can still understand where many users here are coming from, does not make it right but I understand it. there is clearly issues on both sides and you forum mods are just trying to pick up the pieces
