You would seem like a prime candidate for the 3090 though, and it has been pretty easy to buy the FE version at MSRP as it has been available twice in the last week and with limited demand you don't need hair-trigger reflexes to get through the purchase process before the stock runs out...

Yeah I've had a 3090 in the basket a number of times. I have some liquidity, enough to buy another GPU while in the queue here, but due to the state of the world and my industry right now, I'm even cautious about spending £800 on a gpu. I get paid job to job, with no guarantee of a constant monthly income, so I need a cash buffer. My buffer is getting smaller by the month, and I have 3 children to feed. Unfortunately I feel 2021 is going to make 2020 look like the 'good old days', as we have major financial disruption coming far beyond that of 2008. There is an argument that none of us should be buying GPU's right now unless we're completely loaded lol.

In this situation I need to spend to earn of course, but it's a nervy time and the 3090 might be stretching me a bit too much. That said, my deadline has always been Christmas, and if I haven't got a 3080 by mid-December, then I'll probably try for a 3090.

I do not "agree to disagree" with you as you aren't adult enough to retract what you said, despite being unable to actually quote anything that I said that was incorrect. Agreeing to disagree is OK if we are talking about opinions, when we are talking about objective facts (like whether what I wrote is misinformation) then that is impossible. I will be getting a 3080 as soon as the supplies get back to normal. I’ll not be letting OCUK sit on my hard earned money. I’ll also not be paying over the odds to a scalper. My guess is it will be March/April until I can go to any site and buy the in stock card I want. It’s a bit of a crap situation but it ain’t the end of the world.

returned my 2070s 2 weeks prior to launch, when I realized the situation I went out and bought a 780 ti from cex for 75 quid. If you're buying a 3080 you sure as hell can afford an extra £75. Plus having a "just in case" card doesn't hurt. Making the argument that you're going mad because you're cut off from games is just lazy.

Was luck to get 2 3080s one Palit 3080 OC and 1 Zotac trinity OC both from different competitors.

Sold Zotac to a Kid on a local marketplace near the current retail 839 for the Zotac (which imo is absurd!)

I won't forget the happiness on the kids face.. I hope he enjoys that.

I am content atm with my Palit 3080 gamingpro OC - can be slightly louder but its a solid card with OC to +60core and +800 Memory! Temps staying at 72- 73 peak.

The only reason I am still stuck with this garbage overchargers/overgouchers is my asus tuf 3080 day 1 preorder as I have a full asus build so RGB and looks will complement it nicely.

All very true. The industry I'm in we're seeing stock shortages across the board and with Brexit in the new year things will only get worse. I know graphics cards don't come from the EU but I'd be surprised if there's not knock on effects with huge congestion at all points of entry for all worldwide shipments next year.

I think us customers, OC'ers and indeed the industry at a whole need to be realistic and honest about the whole situation. Fingers crossed OC'ers don't cancel my order for me because I'm sure as heck not cancelling. I want a 3080 for a decent price and prices and lead times are only going to keep going up.

I'm 720 in the queue for an Eagle OC. Personally I'm preparing for the worst and that means thinking that I'll probably not get my card until well into next year.

I think you've missed his point. There are thousands of people here, each with unique circumstances. You can't just apply blanket statements about the unimportance of it all and apply it to everyone's situation.

Also people aren't exclusively annoyed at OC. I think that nvidia are the no1 culprit here and so people are discussing the situation in general for the most part. The frustration isn't all directed at OC. The people here have something in common and so are discussing and speculating about it - seems normal enough. But somehow, long time members of this forum who seem to think they have some kind of ownership over the place, get annoyed about this. It's quite bizarre to me, but then I've never got attached to brands or shops.

Been following this fourm since launch day and kept my mouth shut the entire time, but sadly after more than 2 months of waiting I couldn't take it any longer. Managed to get myself an MSI gaming x trio for slight over 800 quid and it arrives later this week.
