*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I couldn’t afford a Voodoo, I had it’s cheaper cut down brother, the Banshee card! Loved playing Unreal with it.
Thought the banshee was better as it also hade vga capabilities. It was faster than the voodoo 2 or at least one version was. I remember seeing my cousin playing AVP and he got way better rates.

The competitors have also dispatched all the available cards that we have not even seen received at OC yet. First stop for incoming stock of large amounts my arse.
Yeah guess it is too hard to be honest for them. Not that they csn damage their reputation more than they already have

The damage is already done for me personally. It has been made perfectly clear that no one higher up at the company actually cares enough to interact with people here, even if it's just to give us someone a bit lower down as a go between. I imagine they view it as a waste of their time, we're going to complain no matter what they say etc etc. You will always get entirely unreasonable people but I think many of us have been more than reasonable considering how little engagement we have had.

This forum is the perfect platform for that engagement, they could even come out the other side giving off a positive impression just by allocating a bit of time to talking to people, trying to allay some concerns. Even if it's just to apologise and tell us it is as it is. Something. But no. By wasting the opportunity they've made themselves look absolutely awful.

I don't think people saying they will take their business elsewhere is an empty threat the way it usually feels like it is. Anti-consumer business practices aside, OcUK has never made it more obvious how little they actually give a **** as long as they make their money. I'll go elsewhere in future. It's not out of anger, just utter disappointment. That's the difference this time, it's utter disappointment.

Thanks for this, its a fair summary of how I feel.

Yes the bottom line is that right now the best that can be done is that you pre-order and go into a queue with everyone else.

They are providing updates, they provide a weekly email with queue position for everyone, or as/when the queue for your specific model changes due to stock shipping. And if you want a heads up for expected deliveries then you can see them posted by Gibbo on the forums in the update thread. The amount of information he can give to people is extremely limited, the stock and supply chain for these products is strained because of demand and lack of production, it means these are highly in demand items and stock is snapped up the literal second it comes into supply. That means you will not get accurate ETAs for this stock with a big lead time, it's too hard to predict the volumes and any possible delays. What they're trying to avoid doing is giving out updates and ETAs which are guesses or rough estimates because people will be extremely mad if they set their expectations based off this and things change and those expectations aren't met. There is other places giving slightly more lead time on product updates of which we cannot talk about, but that place has been wrong on a number of occasions and had to change dates around, and they're also estimated dates, not precise ones.

If you don't like the situation then that's fine, the situation is pretty dire and that's just the ground truth for anyone excited to get new hardware. But it is not of overclockers making, they're simply dealing with the situation as best they can. They're not responsible for low stock, they're not responsible for circumstances where information on the supply chain is limited, and they need to play within the rules of the NDA with Nvidia on what info they can give out.

I'm not giving them a complete pass, I do think some things could have been done better, early ETAs on stock was a bad idea, the queue system took a while to be implemented. But lets face it, most of the anger here is at having to wait and it translates into people whining at OCUK when in reality there's not much more they can do.

I agree with what you say for the most part. I feel I should clarify however that I've ordered a Zotac Amp Extreme.

Ocuk have confirmed to be that there is NO eta whatsoever. That's what leaves a bad taste in the mouth. How can they of good conscience take FULL payment for an item for without knowing when it will arrive.

Going by that logic they will shortly start taking full payment for the 4080 as that also is due.. at some point.

They are taking our money to use as a tool to negotiate with, without passing any benefit to the customers. We aren't crowdfunders.

I loved my gtx 1080ti but broke 2 week's before the launch thought I'd wait and grab a new one on launch day but we all know how that turned out lol been rewatching TV series to keep my spare time occupied but if I don't play a game soon I'll snap

If a party enters into negotiations and it isn't to the betterment of its customers, then who exactly is going to be the beneficiary of those negotiations ?

I wouldn't normally mind, however, there are some proper no-mark reviewers who have managed to snag them. To make matters worse they always insist on posting a thumbnail of themselves with an annoying punchable grin on their face. ****s to a man.

It's the playing the algorithm game. Apparently punchable faces taking up half the thumbnail make people click.

As I'm getting older and turning into more of a grotbag I'm starting to avoid even watching those videos. The video thumbnails annoy me more than they should :D.

I do see what you're saying but the bottom line is that many people such as myself and many people already in the queue actually WANT this service. We want the ability to queue for a product even if there's no ETA because our primary concern is getting one as early as possible and the way you do that is by pre-ordering. If we didn't pre-order we'd have to wait for pre-order queues to first be finished completely which will take 3+ months at this rate and even once they're complete the general availability of stock will be a large lottery for months as people race to stores to get them.

Where I basically agree with you however is that this should be more transparent to the end user when they order, they ought to really have warnings saying the preorder queues for these products mean you probably wont get them until next year. But it's kinda no harm no foul really, if you find out your queue position via email and it's unacceptable then you can cancel and get a refund.

What kinda miffs me about this is people coming to OCUK because they're one of the few businesses offering pre-order queues where others aren't (or aren't anymore), then getting into a queue which obviously benefits them, then moaning it's not good enough. All this "once I have my card I'll never shop here again" rubbish. Right so you're going to use a queue system that benefits you, like it does the rest of us by making sure you reserve a place in line, which other businesses aren't offering (i.e using a superior service) and then your intention is to complain and then never shop here again because it wasn't good enough.

It reminds me, by way of analogy, of people complaining about where they work. It's like OK it's a free market, there's different businesses that offer different things, you go around the market and look at your options, you pick the option that offers you the best possible deal you can get, and then you complain that the best thing you can get isn't good enough?! It's like "I hate my job", "why don't you get another one then?", "no no this is the best I can get", "wait you're complaining about the person offering you the best deal?"

The benefit that's passed to the customers is that you'll get your card before loads of other people, that's the only reason we're all here pre-ordering, because we don't want to wait until March next year, we want a shot at Nov/Dec or whatever. The problem is this benefit is only emotionally felt right at the end of the wait. The people that stuck by patiently are going to be elated when their card arrives knowing thousands of others are still waiting because either they didn't queue or left the queue.

Yea I’ve seen some “reviewers” who I only saw for the first time ever because I was searching for 3080 videos. Fair play but given the current light it just Pees me off.

Glad I'm not the only one that finds the gormless, slack jaw faces extremely pumchable.

Being in the queue isn't the problem. Having to wait isn't the problem. Them taking money isn't a problem, although I don't believe they should do it.

It's the complete disdain for us. The fact that they're relying entirely on an unpaid mod team to deal with us in any form because they can't / won't / aren't bothered with their cretinous customers. They have more contact and better tools than most companies to have a really good go at showing customer support and communication.

What we get is entirely half arsed.

They're like an online version of Del-Boy sometimes. Sell sell sell, regardless of how tacky it is.

@PrincessFrosty Then they can pre-auth and collect payment as soon as you approach 100 pos in queue - similar approach have a few other businesses from game industry where they collected just now payment for my pre-order of Cyberpunk 2077 Collectors EEditior which I placed almost TWO YEARS AGO. At least no one was lying that you may get your game before the end of the year because no one new about delays and mismanagement at CDPR.

Now they're dealing with processing payment, figuring out queue position and cancelling eventually orders that aren't happy with situation.

As far as know none of this is automated. Especially cancellation before despatch. They're using Google form.
At least cancellation is pain free, next day after opening they've cancelled my order.

@Gibbo @EVH

Good afternoon,

We need some sort of update on Zotac Trinity non OC cards. Cards that weren't for sale on launch day (Trinity OC) are arriving quicker than the card I ordered on the 17th of September. I'm hearing nothing from you, the card is no longer available to even pre-order on your website strangely. Thing is, I'd cancel my order and join the Trinity OC queue with this company if there's more chance of me getting that card first. I think you should at least be able to tell us if we're wasting our time through what you know, or what you're not being told in regards to this particular model. Then we can make the best choice and feel respected for choosing to spend our money at OCUK.

I'm willing to be patient but I'm not going to be happy if this situation with this model is going to continue to be ignored. I'm not demanding a card, I just want to know why the card has been removed from pre-order and if that I'm wasting my time.
Mate I'm in the same boat, I sent them a web note about it. At 10am this morning got a reply saying that they have shipped so far 20 Trinity's and 30 OC's and the at the time the queue length for the trinity OC was only 24! so If your position is high first try and get confirmation of how long the OC queue is now via webnote (they may not be able to tell you till Monday) and maybe cancel and join the OC queue but you WILL lose the watchdogs code (which you will probably not get anyway). Now if this info is correct I don't know, if you find out the Q position let us know.

Good post.
A sensible analysis among the childish hysteria shown by a lot on here. Yes, it sucks to have to wait, but at least OC give us the chance to join a quue and get on with our lives, rather than the daily grind of stock checkers, part alerts and telegram groups.
I know which I prefer.

I think peoples perceptions quickly get out of control when they feel the burst of negative emotion that comes with having to wait. They haven't relied entire on an unpaid mod team to deal with us. They implemented a brand new queue update system via email for us. Gibbo posts announcements of expected shipping in the dedicated thread for it. It's likely if you want anymore more than this you wont get it because of the f'd up nature of the situation, not because OCUK are failing you somehow.

Interesting exercise might be to imagine what would actually satisfy you in terms of their response? What would them being bothered to deal with their cretinous customers look like? There's a lot of hyperbole here, all that perception is in your head probably because you're sick of waiting as we all are. Try not let that control how you project their side of this. If anything they're probably all passionate PC enthusiasts who empathize with painful waiting as they're probably no strangers to his themselves, but aren't able to conjure accurate information of the supply chain out of thin air and so are limited to giving us updates on what they know.
