*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Just cancelled my pre-order with OCUK for a Strix OC as I already received one via an alternative source. I expected my position as of this Friday to be ~80 (not including any potential shipments today).

I have been a long time supporter and client of OCUK. I even worked for a large competitor many moons ago. I always appreciated OCUK's catering to the enthusiast crowd and being able to be pragmatic with how they approached things. Their communications have also been great in the past and the community surrounding them (this forum) has been great so kudos for that.

Having said that I have seen a few things during this release fiasco that have made me question a few truths. First of all like many here I ordered on release date, and was having issues getting through the checkout but still I did not think it was helpful or constructive to keep complaining on these forums about the delays. I appreciate a large part of the responsibility is with NVIDIA primarily and the AIBs. There are however a few things that I do have issues with. I am sharing these below in the hope they are received as meant (i.e. constructive) and in the hope that someone from OCUK will read these and perhaps try to improve in these areas. In doing so OCUK can gain back my trust and loyalty as a consumer (and my business):

1) Communications - I do not expect OCUK to magic up cards out of the ether, I get that. What I cannot accept however is being told something that is almost immediately after not followed through. Being told I will get updates on a Friday that do not come, or updates if cards are expected or when cards are sent out, which again do not come (ad nauseam). From experience I would advise OCUK to not promise things they are not able or willing to deliver. It sets expectations and creates negative emotions unnecessarily.

2) Questionable business/moral practices - I get that a lot of people ordered cards that are more popular than others. When stock of the less popular cards started arriving other businesses in this industry chose to retain the stock and offer it to existing customers waiting in other product queues for comparable models. While I appreciate not everyone will want this option it is a nice gesture from a customer service point of view. Even if this was not done however and the business chose to put them up for sale, it would have been nice to see that it was done at the MSRP. Instead we see scalping practices with cards being put up for as much as someone thinks people are willing to pay for. I expected that on ebay, not from a well established reputable retailer. Again, people don't like to feel they are taken advantage of.

Hopefully my cancellation will bring some people closer to getting their card sooner.

Ive made the desicion im just sticking it out, I must be posistion 150 now, with the 10 deliveries up coming and cancellations so im hopeful ill have it by christmas
If that does not happen then so be it, ill continue to wait and just play the games im able to right now. I do not have another 1700 to order from elsewhere and then cancel here so I do not have much choice
I congratulate everyone who already has a card. The only upside of it taking so long to arrive for me is.......... id have at least paid for the card
I had to borrow half the money before I made the order. Its time to start thinking about my next upgrade, anything to take my mind of this
U have at least gpu but i had nothing for 42 days :D i was playin crap games like heroes of the storm on low settings coz that could handle 8700k :D

People weren't joking when they said the Strix could replace a space heater
Playing Horizon ZD last night, the card itself sat around 70C which is decent but of course the heat has to go somewhere. That somewhere being beneath my desk.

I see Zotac 3090s are out there and available.
Is it just a case of low pre orders for this model or Zotac got better production figures?
Or both?

Pretty sure mine has been pasted badly. Mine was running at 0.95v 1860mhz on Skyrim SSE 4k at 77C. My computer sounded like a jet engine!

CNt wait for the water block, Kryonaut extreme and 12 w/mk thermal pads to arrive. I don’t feel comfortable using it at the moment
