• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Nvidia getting it from all angles! lol

The above results show what is possible yet we know developers are lazy.

Nothing Lazy about that. Welcome to the jungle is full of Physics Geometric Grass, you can't go anywhere where there is none of it, it's that which hammers the CPU.

Yea but at 4.0ghz like mine it is still viable in this day and age. That's my every day clocks and it's been that way for coming on 5 years. I would put it down as one of the best cpu's ever.

Oh it's brilliant, yes. it really is, i just think the FX CPU's get a bit of an unfair treatment, they really are not bad at all, they are pretty good, in fact. :)

It is something i know a little about.

Yea if game devs put some good threading in we would all benefit but Amd cpu's would show they are not as bad as people think.

Yea I agree. Still when I build my next Pc unless Amd improve its still I7 all the way for me. Spend more now but benefit from not having to spend again for a good few years hopefully.

When I built my last rig i agonised over buying a 4770k or an 83xx in the end I couldn't justify not buying the 4770k, and believe me that stung a bit.

Would love to see another glorious AMD cpu

Cryengine 3 (V3.4 for Crysis 3) is a product of AMD + Crytek, it has AMD's Modular CPU optimisation built in, it was at the time one of the few engines that treats the CPU as an 8 core, not a 4 core.

It's very telling, Welcome To The Jungle is the most CPU intensive part of the game, edges out an 8 thread i7, just.

Out of date rubbish these graphs are.

My 5960X on 4 cores with HT turned off (near enough the same thing as a 4690k) would beat every AMD CPU on those graphs. The reason I know this is it is something I tested for a thread on another forum yesterday.

When I turned HT on and used 4 cores and 4 threads (same as a 4790k) it was faster still.

What was interesting is turning on all 8 cores and HT, it made no difference at all it was no faster than using just 4 cores/8 threads like a 4790k. So much for being coded for 8 core CPUs.

These graphs should be put in Room 101 as Haswell and Haswell-E have been with us for quite a while now.
