Is he right now just saying that pre-emption is something they have new for Pascal... and thus don't have on Maxwell, which is relatively crucial to async compute working well... oppps.

He's also talking up 4000 wires and a 600mm^2 chip as if that is new and difficult, welcome to Fiji you idiot. They did it already, in fact they came up with the technology for it. First of it's kind.... literally just doing what Fiji already has done. Wow, talk about flat out lying.

28nm and HBM though - HBM2 is a different beast.

It's literally the same technology, and the fundamental part is the same, he's saying it's the first time a chip like that has been made, IE a big chip using interposers, 3d memory, etc. This is literally what Fiji pioneered.

This uses a different architecture but is most assuredly not the first 3d/interposer/hbm chip and HBM2 is a tiny and incredibly easy step after HBM1.
