** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

Pound to Dollar rate = 1.45

$699/1.46 = £482

Add VAT at 20% = £579 rounded up.

Current average retail price - £615

OCuk profit - £36

OCuk profit percentage - 6%

This is of course on the MSRP.

They probably get it slightly cheaper which will be list price and volume price reduction. So wouldn't be surprised if they are making 15% profit margin.

None founders edition based on the above -
MSRP -$599

Cost +VAT after conversion and 6% OCUK markup = £525

So expect none founder edition cards to be sold on OCuk for around the £525 mark.
This....

Waiting for Custom PCB 1080 for the same price as this "founders" 1080...

Nvidia have 9800(ti) stock to clear at the lower price points, so until AMD can compete the prices are likely to remain silly.

Personally I couldn't justify more than £350 on a GPU, and even that is a bit rich for my blood - but as long as there are people willing to pay more you can't fault Nvidia for catering to them.

One flaw, pound to dollar rate might be 1.45, but no bank, cc or paypal will give you that rate. Probably around 1.40 and if you do not believe me go to buy something from Ebay or any store in USD and select paypal for payment and it will show you the rate, I got 1.39 yesterday from Paypal when buying some items from USA.

Also cc companies take 1-2% for their cut, Amazon and Paypal an even larger cut, it all adds up, it is why some companies add surcharges for credit cards and don't offer Amazon or Paypal checkouts as their cut is too big.

Do manufacturers not have an international warranty? i.e. could you not RMA it through the usual process?

Nope. Buying in EU tends to be fine, though some companies will still deny warranty for out of region and just make things difficult.

But out of EU you are alone and you have to return to place of purchase and cover shipping yourself, sales of good act does not apply.

Thats true as well.

Important question is....Are we going to see MSRP -$599 any time soon?

Ah ok, how do they know where you have purchased it from?

What would happen if say you lived in a country for 6 months work bought the parts and then brought the computer back to the UK with you?

I was under the impression the GTX 1080 was going to offer excellent price to performance value but at these prices I’ll be sticking with my GTX 980 Ti for the foreseeable future.

Serial.

Tough luck!

Wow at the pricing. Nvidia have set milking to extreme for this gen it looks like. No danger of me buying at this price so my Nano will last me a bit longer, Nvidia have saved me spending out at least. Bit scared to see what the 1070 comes in at 0.0

So what's this "Founders Edition" then?

As far as I can see, it's marketing gaff for having a stock cooler, or am I missing something?

Clearly celebrating Dave's 50th birthday at PlanetX.;)

Or does Nvidia own a Sheffield bike store, or vice versa?
