Ok. . . so after all the waiting nvidia give us a card which isn't really any faster then a cheaper 5870, and because of the weak £ we have to pay some 30% more then US price???? I think nvidia have a bit of a lemon here! Over priced vs performance. I was really hoping the 480's would come in under £400, nearer £370. Even the EVGA superclocked works out at £355 $ to £ conversion, from the EVGA store as well!!!

Sad sad day :-(

Role on GTX485, hopefully with full 512sp's etc

EDIT plus i've heard AMD are cutting prices soon???? so say a £50 price cut on the 5970 makes it £500 vs £450 for a GTX480??? Or under £300 for a 5870?

Guru3D gave them a positively glowing review. It would be more tempting were the price lower. As it stands you are paying too much for too little extra performance, and too much heat.

I wanted to like these, and I do (the GTX 480's cooler is badass) but as it stands, I'll wait until order day for a new GPU, and see what's going on then.

The guys at custompc magazine / bit-tech.net said it hit 94 degrees under load in an Antec 1200 (where the ambient room temperature was 22 degrees and air conditioned)

What sort of cooling are you going to need in a room which is not air conditioned and in the summer hits 32-33 degrees

Looks like OcUK are going to sell a mad number of their water cooling kits now!!
