NVIDIA GTX 400 SERIES GRAPHICS CARD LAUNCH

After a year with ATI's driver support, I caved and ordered a 470. Power bill up, heating bill down :p

cancel it, get your self a 5870, its faster, same price, uses less power, produces less heat, plus has loads of head room for overclock. i know you've probably waited a long time for fermi to come out, but you probably will be disappointed once you test it out. perhaps not against your 4870 but against a 5870.

I thought the release would be better than this. We all read the rumours about how it was going to be disappointing but I thought nvidia had actually seen a 5870 before and knew what they were up against.

Poor, poor cards:

470 is nothing, same price as 5870 but not much better than a 5850.
480 costs 44% more than a 5870 for about 10% more performance.

And thats just on price, both cards use more power, run hotter and run louder than ATIs.

Shame, wanted to see some price drops on the 5870, not gonna happen now.

X3 PRE ORDER CANCELED!

Waste of time these heap of crap cards!

These cards aren't crap, they're just over priced, my only problem is the power to £ ratio, if you can put a pre-order down and tell the forum about it that fast tells me you got £££ to do so, i hate the price but if i had lots of money I'd probably go ahead

Even if i had a lot of money i still wouldnt consider 470 or 480 due to the fact i wouldnt be happy with the noise of the fan at 50% and higher, i would be force to doing a liquid cooling system just for the card, which i would not believe it would be feeables, but at the same time i would think about my electric bill so, but with such a little performance increase I really wont need to go that path...unless nvidia sort themselves out, and the price...

think i'm gonna wait until the dust settles with these to find out which is the best to go with and sell my 5850 to fund it. sick to death of ATI's awful driver support and utterly pants performance in CAD and general 2D uses (which is my main use for any card). nvidia might be well overpriced but i'd rather pay more for something that actually functions.
