** NVIDIA GTX 970 REFERENCE EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE FROM OcUK IN EUROPE!! **

Ah that's not too bad Gibbo.

I was kinda bad though.... I just plonked down 2x reference 980s instead. Because who likes food and warmth anyway? XD but on the bright side I bought it from yourselves sooooo. It's win win for you XD

Well our prices on 980 reference cards are the lowest out there. :)

Yeah can confirm that :) OcUK are the only place I found a 980 South of £420. I did almost get your OcUK one for £409 but Zotac were offering 5 yr warrenty on theirs and that seems to help when reselling later (ppl always want to know about warrenty, when I sold my 780ti that was the most common question lol). Anywah it's great that OcUK got it shipped out today, I thought I'd missed last post ^_^

Gibbo, how does the reference cooler on this card differ from the cards that the reference cooler is based on, e.g. the cheaper Galax, Palit and EVGA cards?

Is there much in it?

It is not even close!

The NVIDIA cooler build quality is in a different league, the thermals and noise levels are also much lower.

Then just look at it, no offence but one looks like cheap junk and then you have the NVIDIA with its premium looks and that gorgeous NVIDIA backplate.

For me the cheapo Galax and Palit ones do what they say on the tin but they are cheap because the cooler is cheap, it is that simple, but it does what it says on the tin.

The NVIDIA built card has a premium cooler on it, backplate and the components are of higher quality. Bear in mind a lot of the 970 cards are built on 760 PCB's to reduce cost. ;)

Our 970 is on a 970 PCB! No cost down! :)

So how will this custom 970 reference compare to the OCUK reference 980 (the £410 version)? Are we talking like for like other than the obvious fact one is 970 and the other is a 980, or is there more to it than just that?

That's awesome, cheers Gibbo :)

I thought as much, haha. I probably won't be getting anything till after Xmas so looking at upgrading to a 970 (or 2, prompting the question regards cooling for SLI really) from my 270X.

Unless AMD pull something out the bag for Jan/Feb I may be going to Green team for the first time

Hey gibbo
I noticed you posted that you had requested that the coils be plastic covered etc
So is this still the case?

Yes that has being done, different plastic containers which the factory reported back on saying it helped reduce noise and eliminate it in some cases. :)

Looking forward to them arriving, it is the ultimate 970 for 2-way SLI in small cases and 3-way SLI. :)

Thanks for that, just trying to get my brother to buy my msi 970

Does he fancy a 3 way? (SLI)

I have two 970s ready for the bay now :D I really need to stop coming to the OcUK website, I always leave poorer :p hehe.

Those 970s sound epic, I am feeling bad I am missing out, but hopefully the 980 references will be more or less the same quality. Obvs not sure about coil whine but fingers crossed...

He like me as a micro atx, but as a 2gb 770 so trying to get him to have my 970
Because of my case and pc location the ref 970 blowing out the case would suit my needs better

Like for like :)

Yeah same. Ideally my cards need to go next to each other else it wastes space in the case and on the board, blocks the SSD trays and generally looks weird. My board has to be spaced 2 slots away instead of 1 too so there is a huge ass gap between them.

They looked nice. Then the fire nation attacked...

Fingers crossed muchly that the NVIDIA ones are ok in this config. Else I will cry :( lol.

Surprised they sent you one to check/bench etc
Or have they and your keeping quiet :)
