NVidia Help Page + OC advice / Steps to take if your 6800 isn't working

i have had probs with my gt not being able too down load latest drivers...when i've into a little further it seems the via 4 in 1 drivers have become corrupt???..i've restalled 4 in 1 which then helped...

I have two 6800 ultra's, the other day i had a freeze, had to manual reboot, when it started to reboot through dos, the screen was covered in dots, once it got to the first screen for xp it then rebooted itself again, and then failed to do anything after that, this kept happening, so i tested each card on its own, and one failed to boot through and kept coming up with these dots, so one card has a problem, anyone no what it is? and these cards have not been OC'ed..

Ive had some graphical weirdness on my 6800gs so Im reverting settings and trying a different version driver.

On the front page of this sticky it says 66.93 is fastest. These are like 30 months old now, are they still the best for an older card like this ?

*Wonders if anyone will notice this post* :o

My answer to the above would be, check all the heatsinks are making good contact. Which leads to another question, what mix of heatpaste and superglue is a good mix?

sorry man ive lapsed on this dude, no 66.93 aint the best any more just get whatever is the latest whql. as for superglue and paste....wtf ive never done that before although it sounds fairly safe make sure the ratio is high thermal paste is quite adhesive on its own and is more important in its function than the glue would be

old post but the answer is the memory is borked, although im sure you have sorted this by now.

sadly i didnt know about this thread until after i fixed it, what happened to me was the fan broke on it so i ordered a silent cooler for it, after i did this it worked for about 2 weeks then stopped, waited 4 months with a 5200 in my pc (:() then took it out just because i was bored and wondered if i could get it working again.

i tightend all the bolts on the back of the card so their was more preassure on the block and voilla it worked.

just to add to your list in case this problem is not known.
