Nvidia Is Happy With The Performance Of Fermi

This is great. It's an argument between fanboys over which side has the most fanboys. So is it really some kind of meta-argument over who makes the best graphics cards? Does that even make sense?

For my usages though, nVidia are simply not going going to be able to beat ATi on price to performance, even if FERMI is "cheaper" as I intend on going for an eyefinity set up, if I got an nVidia card, I'd have to get a Triple Head To Go as well, which'd inflate the cost to silly heights, plus the triple 1680 limitations.

I do hope nVidia do employ their own version of triple head though.

It's an argument on the definition of a fanboy.

I am asking them why me disliking nVidia makes me an ATi fanboy, though they seem unable to actually answer it.

Right, so what is your point again then?

You do a lot of calling yourself, yet some people here regard you as one of the worst nVidia "fanboys" around.

I've not made it a habit to go around calling people fanboys... I'm really none too bothered - I've only passingly inferred it about you as I think you protest too much about not being one.

I've never made any pretence about the fact that I have a bias towards nvidia but I've also been pretty public about the fact that I consider them the lesser of 2 evils... as I think my scathing posts about drivers and physx amongst other things would make clear... and neither do I generally go out the way to attack ATI.

As much as I dislike them, I'm not stupid and I'd buy nVidia cards if they had the best price to performance ratio.

Putting it simply, I buy ATi because I don't like nVidia and they're the ONLY alternative.

i think you're contradicting yourself there :D

edit: sorry i see that was already posted, i just found it waaay too hilarious i had to post straight away

On the eyeinfinity note... will have to test out the functionality on this gigabyte 260 later as it has 1x VGA, 1x DVI outputs and a HDMI port that can be converted to another extra DVI output... wonder if it can drive 3 screens in 3D without triple head.

IF it works, you should be able to use softTH.

I protest about not being one because of the very way I'm accused of being one.

Being called an ATi fanboy is like being called a Hovis fanboy for disliking Rathbones bread. That doesn't make sense does it?

No one seems able to explain it.

How does me disliking nVidia mean I'm an ATi fanboy?

right, im not saying anything more after this, its kinda gotten out of hand here lol :D still gonna read though, cause its actually really funny! thx for the 'entertainment' guys.
you just dont seem to get it. look up contradiction man, it might help you quite a lot. you said you would by an nvidia, then you pretty much said you only buy anything NOT nvidia.. maybe not a fanboy (for others to decide), but pretty damn confused in what you're saying..

Right, I "only buy ATi currently" in the past 2 years or so, the cards I've bought have been ATi.

I don't like nVidia for various reasons. HOWEVER, if they released a card that topped ATi on price to performance, I'd buy it if I were looking to buy a new graphics card.

Again, I have no loyalty for ATi, just dislike for nVidia.

Just in case you missed it the first time:

" "I buy" is in relation to what I've bought in the past. "

"I would buy" is about up and coming cards.

What kylew is trying to say is if you don't like a brand, doesn't mean you're faithful to another.

If 3DFX existed today, there would be 3 brands, Nvidia, ATI and 3DFX.
If you didn't like Nvidia, you still had 2 alternatives to choose from. That doesn't make you a fanboy of anything, you're simply steering clear from the one you don't like for whatever reason.

Thank you! :D

I'm not into nVidia's rebranding and that, but it doesn't make me loyal to ATi.

I won't buy nVidia unless I "have to" in terms of they offer the best value for money.

We get that... thats not why people would consider him a fanboy if they do...

Yeah, but people these days would label you a fanboy just for mentioning that you don't like Nvidia, because this and that, and so you're going to stick to ATI and not because you're loyal to it, but simply because there isn't any other alternative.

I buy ATI/AMD because they were best price/performance when I was buying, or simply had the best product (ATI)
Example, I bought a 4870x2 a year ago, it was destroying the competition.
I now use a 5870 with 5760x1080 lol.

But you didn't buy Nvidia when they were miles ahead of ATi not so long ago, when the 8800 series of cards were out and they were best bang for buck, you stuck faithfully with your ATi cards.

And that quote above totally contradicts this one here.

No it does not.
He does not like NV because of there practices not because he thinks NV cards are bad & wishes not to support them with his cash & that leaves very little options of other brands.
Now some do not care about practices & that only bang for buck matters to them which is fine, it is also fine for people who care about practices not to buy that brand.
Carling about practices or not is personal preference & nothing more.

Its not like there are 5 other brands available which he has no issues with & he keeps picking ATI out of the group.
