I don't understand all the hate for Nvidia of late, I try not to post too much in the video card section of this forum because of all the petty bickering that goes on.
But I will just add, where were all these Nvidia haters for the past few years before the latest 5*** series cards from ATi came along?
People seem quick to forget the likes of the 8800GTX which was quite a considerable step up from anything previous,
and then the very affordable 8800 GT which brought cheap high res gaming to the masses.
Admitedly Nvidia are now slightly on the back foot, but lets face it they were on top for nearly 3 years before ATi finally got their arse into gear.
I'm intrigued to see if the anti-nvidiots are so cocky when Fermi is eventually released
LADS lads i tell you what's going on and i say it how it is... Now that ATI are graphics market leaders without any competition the elite enthusiasts and many 'People' have all bough ATI 5XXX hence now we have ATI snobs these posts are full of bias... i for once am going to sit tight I have the money now to buy 2 5970's but don't because its a one way market i'm going to wait for the Fermi and by the looks of it they don't sound half bad and as many people have said its Nvidia were talking about not your average corner shop....
There are only so many "ATi fanboys" because people like you will see somone one being negative about nVidia, and instantly assume it's because they're ATi fanboys or have some sort of unrealistic like of ATi.
I can't stand nVidia, but it's not because of ATi that I can't stand them, I dislike nVidia because of what nVidia have done over the last few years that I REALLY shouldn't have to mention AGAIN.
If there were 3 major players in the graphics card area (say intel for example) there would be FAR LESS "fanboy" accusations.
If I had a rant about nVidia, even if you thought I was a fanboy, you wouldn't have a clue what company it was for.
Again, if I slate the Wii, you wouldn't be able to call me a fanboy if I didn't say "this console is better than a Wii".
If I simply moaned about the Wii and nintendo, you wouldn't know where to start with fanboy accusations.
So why is it that I can't complain about nVidia when they deserve it without being called a fanboy?
I very very rarely compare nVidia and ATi and not when I complain about nVidia as it has nothing to do with ATi that I'm annoyed with nVidia.
Would you call me a samsung fanboy for complaining about maxtor hard disks? No you wouldn't.
If you put much thought in to it, you'd realise that fanboys do far more than complain about a company. They ALWAYS have to bring another company in to it, compare and tell everyone how much the "competing" company sucks.
They don't give any valid reasoning and they just quote things that are popular to say. For example, all the nVidia fanboys of late say things such as:
"Nvidia = Peace of mind, ATi = none stop problems"
"ATi suck, their drivers are always unstable, nVidia's drivers are perfect, never a problem"
"You pay a premium for nVidia hardware, even if it's the same or less performance than ATi hardware, you're paying for the quality of the nVidia brand"
"ATi are cheaper, so they're bad quality"
"Price performance doesn't matter only fps and benchmarks"
"pro rich gamers are the ones who actually own computer able to play games"
"NVidia just works out the box, ATi you've got to mess about first"
"its a collectors item and whoever buys it wont be using it for gaming" < -- Local nVidia fanboy defending the purchase of the GTX295 MARS
ATi Hotfix Thread
"ATi suck, they need hotfixes to keep their cards going, as soon as a new game comes out, your crossfire is broken, nVidia makes perfect drivers, they don't need hotfixes"
nVidia Hotfix Thread
"Cool, thanks, I'll try this out, I've been having problems with SLi on *newly released game*"
When you compare that to
"I'm fed up with nVidia's constant rebrands" and so on, you start realising who the real fanboys are.
You do get ATi fanboys of course, I'm not saying you don't, however, it does seem that they're a lot less common.
My theory is that you get so many nVidia fanboys because of how nVidia is proactive with their marketing, they're far more well known, and people new to computes are more likely to become familiar with nVidia than ATi.
Which starts the fanboy phase. They believe nVidia's marketing and "the way it's meant to be played" which drives them in to fanboy rages.
You'll then get the phase where they're getting a bit older and more sensible, they are apprehensive of ATi stuff, but stop regarding them as poor fault ridden hardware.
They finally get over their fanboy ways and realise that it doesn't matter what brand they get, but performance to price matters most.
Thus ends the phase of an nVidia fanboy.
I've seen it happen MANY MANY times on here, I could name names, but it's not really fair, though I'm sure most of the long term users will know who I'm talking about anyway.
