Nvidia is the king of the GPU market

I can see it now, in a couple of years time there will be an army of Pottsey-esque AMD fans, that rush in to defend a company that are no longer relevant in that particular computing area. :(

(This post is suppose to be humorous and in no way meant to be slanderous to Pottsey, I mean it only is the way that he is dedicated to Power VR even though they are no longer in the discrete GPU business.)

Proper laugh from me :D

Yeah I don't think we should be defending AMD, that's why I put up this thread. Call a spade a spade kinda thing. AMD need to do something, price cuts / bundles to spark more interest. The cards are good just to expensive in the face of cheaper (And faster) Nvidia alternatives.

With £50 price cuts on Fury X and Non X I could see them being much more attractive options.

Proven not to work, AMD lost market share when they were the cheapest and fastest.

The Question then is what will that £50 do to AMD's profit margin, if it wipes it out or puts them negative then in the interests of AMD doing better its not really an option.

So lets call a Spade a Spade, you just want cheaper GPU's here and now and you think AMD are the soft target. :p

First thing AMD need to sort out is the lack of Fiji cards on the shelves.

This is absolutely no point in AMD cutting prices if they are selling all they can make on the Fiji cards.

When AMD have been cheaper and faster they have sold though lol.

Only now they have lost the market share now after taking so long to bring something new to market, and botching launch with limited stock and pricing cards to high against faster / cheaper competitors.

When stock levels are better pricing comes down and maybe a game bundle AMD will very likely start selling well again. I can totally see the Fury non X and Nano being really popular when stock levels and pricing are right.

Although AMD are on the ropes I don't think this is the end.

I've read that you think it's over for AMD. Am happy to agree to disagree on this.

I'll give AMD another year before declaring them dead lol. A lot can change between now and this time next year.

NVIDIA are not the biggest of AMD's problems. Intel is. Compared to Intel, NVIDIA are small fry.
I think only ZEN can save them from going under.

I can see the fury x cards doing well, probably in 6 months time when they finally get unlocked voltage and you can actually buy one and they have price drops. But then pascal will be at our doorsteps which is too darn late for AMD! They needed all this stuff from the get go not months down the line!

King of the fools, nvidia = pay more for less.
All about marketing, people are still brainwashed in to thinking amd cards crash every 10 seconds in games and get 1 driver update every 10 years.

+1

I'd rather support the open standards that AMD creates, like Freesync (Adaptive Sync), TressFX, Mantle, etc. than support Nvidia who strives to create propriety middleware that just stagnates and slows advancement.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, Nvidia make good cards.

As soon as AMD go under all progress from Intel and Nvidia will cease, we will be back to bad old days of tiny improvements at massive prices.

Amd haven't had any relevance in the cpu sector since deneb/ thuban x6, that was 2009/2010. We have been living the days of tiny improvements since 2011.
I am still waiting for an amd cpu that can replace my 2600k.

Amd's last and all imporrant attempt at execution was kaveri, they failed.

Spot on. Going back recently, the 290 was a fantastic card and got many recommendations from me and prior to that, the 7950 with even more but looking now, I am hard pressed to recommend AMD with their current top cards and prices and that is a first for me.

I completely agree, slight price drops and more people would probably buy their cards. I would definitely consider buying a 390X if it was priced around the £300 mark.

derp what ? If you ask me amd have been kicking nvidias behind for many a year when it comes to fps per buck.
Last decent fairly priced nvidia card was the 8800gt ever since then they gone back to type and overcharge.

So what about the 970 as a reasonably priced card when it was launched, its not he best selling card for nothing.

Eventually we'll all be using either AMD or Intel IGPU's. The rate at which Intel and AMD's IGPU technology is improving is far superior to discrete GPU advancement in recent years.

What kind of troll bait is this?

Nvidia's current GPUs offer much better bang for buck, especially at the high end:

The Fury and FuryX need a bug price drop to be competitive with the 980Ti.

Boom and humbug - AMD = Parrot :D
