NVIDIA Maxwell architecture is coming sooner than expected (can’t share any details yet).

Crysis 3 was the only game that brought my clocked 7970 to its knees at Ultra settings. All the other games could be run easily and smoothly at 1440p at Ultra settings. FXAA was all that was needed, though in some games you could get away with x2AA. 7970/50 clocked is ideal for decent but cheap performance @ 1440p/1600p imo.

Exactly. 2560x1440 res was not suddenly made playable when the GTX780 was released with its magical ~17% performance increase.

30 FPS becoming 34 FPS does not = game changing. GTX780 still has to compromise at that resolution.

Broomstick gets a bit carried away sometimes, as we all do from time to time. :p

GTX780 is an excellent but overpriced card, because those of us who run high res still have to accept we must lower our expectations on what settings we can maximise. Yes GTX780 will compromise less, but not by a massive amount IMHO.

With every graphical setting maxed out in Crysis 3 my single HD7950 @1200/1800 was getting FPS in low 20s in demanding areas. Even if an overclocked GTX 780 is 25%-30% faster it will still be getting FPS in the 20s in those more demanding areas. Hardly a total transformation from unplayable to playable, because in order to get good FPS the settings must be dropped.

I don't mind people claiming a GTX780 is a great card disregarding price, but don't try to kid us that it is a game changer at 2560x1440 + res. Telling people a GTX780 will transform their hi-res gaming experience over a HD7970 GE or GTX680 is going to **** a lot of people off when they purchase one to find out it was BS and they still need to run reduced settings in graphically demanding games :)

Like I said, if CF 7950s at 1100/1550 have to compromise at 2560x1600 in the latest games, then a slower single GTX780 is going to have to compromise even more.
