Nvidia patents a turbofan to cool the upcoming GPU

Very surprised that a lot of you are quoting posts that are obviously abusive and very likely to be removed giving the poster a holiday or worse permanent ban.

One thing I did notice, even though most of the posts said person is posting are abusive nonsense, this one does indeed have a ring of truth to it.

I'm not defending anything it's just quite clear you don't buy a card like that for standard gaming.

Personally I would put the 295x2,Titan black, 780TI, in the same bracket. Maybe even the 780, 290x, 290 and even some of the 770's. £300+ for a GPU is not what I would call standard gaming, that is clearly into the enthusiast gamer teritory, obviously scaling up through dual, triple and quad cards, then the expensive and very very expensive dual GPU single cards.

No, this is what he originally said:

What?? I am not talking about that post

He said in a later post that the Titan Z was marketed as an enthusiasts gaming card and not a compute card. And that it's primary use was gaming.

You replied directly to that post to say he was wrong.

Yeah I shouldn't be replying to that poster. Sorry.

The thing is Gerard said it was an enthusiast gaming card and that other guy said he was wrong :)

Back on topic.

The Titan style coolers were already excellent, had two ref 780 Ti's in SLI and the cooling was awesome.

If they can improve this further good on em.
Good to hear boom, (pardon the pun) as im thinking of going with a reference 780 in sli with my current wf.

oh I see as I posted my last post the mods have indeed stepped in.

maybe now we can get back on topic.

the fan as I understand it the normal fan blades and the blower fan blades are not connected, so the coaxial fan pressure generated drives the blower fan blades increasing the negative pressure in inside the fan resulting in more air being sucked in through the coaxial fan blades.

It's not an AMD thread, so not like it really matters :D

Post 11

Wouldn't it be cheaper for Nvidia to just produce cheap, barely capable cooling solutions for the reference cards and leave their board partners to produce the decent cooling solutions?

The board partners will do that anyway so is there any need for Nvidia to put any effort into this?

I fear the cost associated with this will be recouped by increasing the cost of their future cards.

You guys ruined this thread yourselves. It was about a Nvidia fan and clearly you guys had to have a dig at AMD.

post 15

As always, its great to see nVidia innovative, they could have just got stumped, not had a clue, and just lump a watercooling system to their cards.

Yep you guessed it more Nvidia guys trolling AMD.

That's what this whole section thrives on. Little digs and snide remarks about people, their gpu choices and preferences. Its (that ones for you Rusty ;)) like being back in the schoolyard with grown men. Not in the Gary Glitter type way either.

Ha, yeah they are great coolers. Looking forward to seeing 20nm Maxwell and this new improved cooling design. The coolers were already excellent. Nvidia aren't standing still.
