Just 16GB RAM too, nothing special either, only running at 3000MHz.

I never credited myself just posted on here what I found on guru3d. ;)

Whats interesting is a few of us tried to open discussions about this on the nvidia subreddit, and the mods (who claim to have no affiliation with nvidia) kept deleting the posts with no reasons given.

The speculation is it is because most games outside of the whitelisted ones wont have much of a benefit if any at all, and it doesnt look good for marketing.

Okay, there goes that theory.
Would still like to see some tests with at least 32GB with a 3090 or 6800 or 6900 as having more (the 3090) or the same (Navi 21) amount of VRAM as system RAM doesn't seem like it would show SAM / Resizeable Bar in the best possible light.
Especially with whatever title is the most demanding on swapping out assets. Unsure what that would be though. MS Flight? Some crazy texture mod for Cyberpunk? TES VI with similarly crazy texture mods (wouldn't hold my breath waiting Bethesda though)?
 
I've followed Nvidia's walkthrough on Resizable BAR and it doesn't work for me

My motherboard: ASUS STRIX X570-F
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X,
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio

Updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest one which is a beta version
Version 3603 Beta Version

Within the Mobo BIOS settings I have these settings applied:

Above 4G Decoding enabled
Re-size Bar Support auto

I have the latest BIOS from MSI website

Release Date: 2020-10-16

I also have the very latest GPU Driver

Yet Resizable BAR is still disabled

Is the GPU causing this issue?

I heard nvidia has a tool on there site that scans computer and tells you what the issue is.

I havent tried it my self.

Is your boot drive set to GPT not MBR and are you turning off CSM and using UEFI too boot in the motherboard bios too ? You can only use UEFI to boot of windows if set to GPT or the pc will not boot. You can't use ReBar without UEFI.

Yes Hard Drive set to GPT and yes CSM is disabled by default on my mobo and yes booting via UEFI

It's so puzzling

It doesn't work that way. All sam/rebar does is allow the CPU to access all the VRAM at once, instead of 256MB chunks at a time.

Important part for you is this part at the bottom of the link above, it says you need to update with dragon centre or the msi liveupdate :-

MSI - (select GPU -> Support -> Utility -> choose MSI Dragon Center or MSI Live Update)

Thanks for the helpful reply Purgatory but I tried Live Update earlier today too, no luck

Im convinced it's MSI not having the new Bios ready yet for my card

Make sure to download the one I listed above as that live update tool has been updated to add the ReBar part to its search.

So uninstall any old version and reinstall the one I linked above:-

Make sure to have .net framework 4.0 installed too and turn off any antivirus the period it's searching for new updates. Could be your virus checker refusing to do it, other people had virus protection cause issues too.

Can confirm Gears 5 gains on my 2700x as well (meaning rbar for zen+ works as efficient as 5000 series cpus)
