*****NVIDIA PRICE DROP - OcUK First NVIDIA GTX 460's from £99.99 +VAT!*****

Someone explain to me why the 460s have plummeted in price ? Is there something coming out around the corner or as suggested on page 1 - Nvidia's just trying to regain market share.

Damn fine price btw

they haven't all, just the 768MB versions. The 1GB versions were selling like hot cakes, nvidia has dropped the price on the 768 version to shift more units.

Hmm I was just about to buy the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1024mb or the Asus GeForce GTX 460 1024mb, I wouldnt have minded buying the Asus 768mb but seems to be missing off the OC website. I have heard bad things about Palit card so thats put me off that one, Would you buy OcUK Value GeForce GTX 460 768MB over the two cards I wrote above? I am not sure what to choose now, I'll be casually gaming and constantly watching HD media on a 42 inch tv while having 1080p on my 24inch monitor at the same time for browsing. Am I better off paying for the 1024mb version?

Yeah I was looking at the Palit card and got put off due to the dvi and vga ports - I mean who the heck uses vga these days ? :p

I think OcUK value is the sparkle 460 ? Maybe worth giving ocuk a call with regards to it.

hmmm - anyone shed any light on if this would be a worthwhile upgrade from a 4870 1GB? I game at 1920, and the only games that have really stressed the 4870 out have been GTA4 and Napoleon Total War...

That Palit is tempting, as I’ve been considering a graphics upgrade for Arma 2 and Deadspace 2.

I’d prefer the lower power usage of an ATI 5770 when not gaming, should ATI decided to reduce prices.

Any feedback on fan noise of the Palit and OcUk value model?

I had a 1gb Palit and under load it was very loud a really annoying buzzing noise...

Just so you know the GTX460/5770 are near enough identical at idle. According to Anandtech the GTX460 is actually a shade lower at 160w (vs 163w for 5770) full system power draw.

Damn. I suspected that might be the case, as they have to cut costs somewhere.

Thanks for that p0rks0da. Found a review of a generic 460 768MB (Axle branded) with power consumption charts of card only on TechPowerUp. Going to dwarf my 4670.

Judging from this...

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/156?vs=176

and, more importantly, the games that I play with my 4870 at the resolution that you also run at I am not going to bother to "upgrade".

Just got my OCUK Value delivered and it is in fact an Inno3D model that appears to exhaust out of the case. not much included. A molex to PCI power convertor and a DVI-VGA. More once fitted.
