Nvidia releasing GTX560SE

I never said $249,I said £250. SA said the AIB partners mentioned a $299 price point excluding tax(roughly £230 with VAT),so going by the £20 to £30 added by retailers when the HD7970 was launched, the £250 point seems about right. They also mentioned that due to PhysX it would be faster than an HD7970 in many games ,being somewhat lower in non supported games according to benchmarks they saw. However, the GTX570 is that price so surely, the GK104 cannot be slower in non-optimised games or will it??

They also mentioned there would be two SKUs at launch.

Right,so will they be hitting price parity with the previous cards?? Surely, the GK104 if launching at £250(or thereabouts) should be at least faster than a GTX570??

The GTX580 is only 10% faster than a GTX570:

So even a 15% to 20% speedup over the GTX570 would make it faster than a GTX580:

I dunno - lots of forums are touting it as an HD7970 killer at a sub £300. Are they being too optimistic??

I think you're just making it up as you go along tbh....

It's either getting rid of excess 40nm before Kepler, or a tie over because Kepler's still a long way off. Where do you stand on it kids? The timing is too late in the game before a supposed "big launch" - I'm calling Kepler being late. Again.

Apple have hoovered up as much 28nm as they can lay there hands on - iPhone 5 and iPad 3 are soon , they even wanted exclusive at TSMC - they laughed at them back....

but it does mean wafers are more expensive , hence higher prices.

IMO , the next Nv wont be as cheap as people want it to be....

+1 - read a story this morning about TSMC laughing about Apple wanting to go exclusive too. Funny thing is, NV had slots reserved that they passed up - I think the Kepler design teams had some major obstacles to overcome.

That Tiny Tom guy from Overclockers3D said on his new GTX-570 review yesterday he's signed the NDA for the new Kepler but the RRP is going to be insane.

So,its NOT the cheaper high performance card which SA mentioned:

According to those leaks it is a $299 GPU,with a smaller die than Tahiti, lower power consumption and PhysX will speed up games past an HD7970(and in less optimised games will be somewhat slower).

So what were they smoking unless Nvidia is releasing two different GPUs,ie, big Kepler and medium Kepler. I thought big Kepler,ie,GK112 was delayed??

This is what I am thinking now. Of course according to what Ghøst has heard Kepler will be expensive. So this means the lower end SKUs are not launching anytime soon, and the SKUs being launched next month(or thereabouts) are probably £350+ at least then.

So basically no price movement in the lower end for a while! :(

1. Either Kepler is launching mid-range or high-end first so 560se is to temp for the low end spot
OR
2. Kepler is a long way off so they're just showing some token activity
OR
3. Nvidia had some defective 560 chips and wants to annoy AMD's 7770 launch

I think 3 is probably it but I can't be sure

It seems like the first Kepler SKU to be launched is the high end one, according to the video Ghøst pointed me to(check post 29). Looks like a traditional launch then with the high end arriving first.

- lots of people just want something new or even dont know any better in regards to when new stuff is coming ... good way to clean up stock once 28nm starts rolling in; then nvda has to sell em for cheap.

Funny amd hasnt had to drop their prices at all.

I'll go 2. IE - they're not taking Verdetrol lying down.

Why isn't this just called the GTX555 like its OEM counterpart?

EDIT: Just read over on TPU that the card also only has a 192bit memory interface and 1GB memory like the GTX550TI (so only 768MB usable at the full memory bandwidth).

This would actually make it slower clock for clock than the "older" GTX460SE....

the new cards are gonna be expensive, dont go thinking you`ll be getting any bargain with the new stuff , it`ll be for people with BIG wallets ,or people , ya know what i mean, who`ve robbed banks , live of mummy and daddies trust fund all that kind of stuff - the average joe , maybe those people with a family , responsibilities , and not win the lottery and not have mega mega bucks in there pay packet each month - now is the time to start looking at these *GTX 570* things

excuse if i missed the odd word or 2
