NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I would cancel my pre-order if every other retailer wasn't massively scalping.
This is the thing. The interest they've made on my money won't be huge - by law, you're not allowed to hold funds like this in high interest accounts. At most, it might cover the cost of a coffee. The interest I've missed out on is dwarfed by the amount other retailers are scalping by.

I was annoyed this morning that I missed out on a stock drop of the card I'm in a queue for (Palit Gamerock 5090) at a different competitor, as it was sensibly priced by recent standards. That price - £2,230 - was still £80 more than my queue pre-order, which is far more than any interest I've lost out on so far.

Of course, if we get to the end of the month and I'm still in my current queue position or thereabouts, the smell of rat will be undeniable. But for now, holding on is still the best value for money option.

It is what it is, and we have to manage our impatience: I think the other site are the most transparent in a tricky situation. A clear queuing system and a useful FAQ. These are good core values, rather than those retailers making a crafty £100+ profit per card, out of the situation we find ourselves in.

@Gibbo Did the 5090 Astrals oversell yesterday ?

Order went through but bounced between Confirmed and Undefined.

Website says phone lines temporary closed so can't ask there.

I'm enjoying the steady downward creep of the Palit prices on the site popular with scalpers. The same cards get re-listed every 24-48 hours with a further tenner knocked off the price.

You're going to need to do a bit better than that, lads, now the ROPs issue is widely known! I might "watch" some of them just to create a bit of false hope.

The scalped Palit 5080 listings are stupid, you are a nutter to buy with no retailer warranty. It is entertaining watching them scalp for peanuts… what a waste of time!

I will continue to watch until the market normalises.

We have the same fun with the scalped 9070's now too :D

Already saw a Reaper for £689 or best offer.

I mean is it really even worth it for £100 or less?

Tons of dreamers on there thinking they will get £900+ for one as well.

Money blog: Pound set for biggest rise against dollar in over two years

Rhetorical question - So do you think the stores offering pre-order will honour their "Price guarantee" in respect of exchange rates and refund us some money?

They only added the last bit when the Pound went up, how convenient

My order at the place with pre-order queues says it's expected to ship 10th / 11th March, with delivery 13th - 17th March. I'm no.3 in the queue for a 5090 TUF OC. I had no ETA for 4 weeks, then jumped from 13 to 3, and got an ETA.

In theory, I should have it in my hand this time next week. Funny, as when I placed the order it was for 4th - 7th February delivery!

I'm still holding out hope for a 5090 FE drop before I get it - which would save me around £600.

I think they banked on the world continuing to follow the usual rule: "If the UK economy has bad news, the pound falls against the dollar. If the US economy has bad news, the pound falls against the dollar". Trump's surprised everybody by managing to break the second half of that.

My non OC TUF keeps getting bumped by a day the last few days, now expected 8-9th (unlikely), but reckon they are waiting on an order to arrive, so hopefully next week. I missed out last the drops of 6 each, but now sitting a 1st in the queue.

Also put an order for Astral at the same place. 50/50 chance that it'll be delivered tomorrow :)
When i ordered itsaid 17th March allowed me to change to oday for delivery buthad no despatch not. Spoke to them today and the actual ETA was in fact 17th April (subject to change) all along, aparently they had issues with their website. Amazing how manytech stores have issues with websites these days. Just going to leave it on pre order though a i really cannot be bothered anymore

The drops of each were probably an additional £300 to your pre-order though? I've seen a few TUF OC drops at £300-600 more than my pre-order... and I already feel like I've over paid as I originally wanted a £2000 card!

Actually - re-reading this, you meant drops from that supplier - not the ones popping up on the stock checking sites at silly money?!
