NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Hmm. As nice as the Auros Ice is, if I could get the FE I would be happy with that. Nvidea store just seems to redirect to Amazon when it comes to the other cards and Scan doesnt have the FE listed, only the other brands, some I havent heard of. For the people who sold their 4090 in anticipation of the 5090, why have you regretted if you dont mind me asking?
I would edit out the competitors' names. It could result in a ban.

The general gist is no signifigant uplift in performance and supply will be pants so inlikely to be able to replace for quite a while. You need to remove the competitor name from your post also.

Nvidia just says "notify me" right now, in it's place on launch day will be a link to purchase (at least for the few milliseconds before they sell out). You can't buy FE cards by going direct to the website of the supplier, it's only on the Nvidia website.

Despite me planning to give it my all on release day, I'm expecting to miss out on an 5090 FE and probably any AIB I target in the frenzy. So my thoughts are turning to plan B, so advice would be welcome.
My last full build was fairly high-end, but 7 years ago, and the entire rig will be going to one of my kids. I've got a pretty decent new build to replace it, but it is just missing a GPU (Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64GB CL30, Asrock Nova 870E Mobo, NZXT Kraken Elite, Full Lian Li SL Wireless, Lian Li 011 Evo RGB Case and a Samsung Odyssey 57" Monitor).

I'm coming from an RTX1060 6GB, which has done surprisingly 'ok' over recent years, but I've not been pushing it hard, and have only been an occasional gamer. What temporary GPU would you all recommend that might tide me over until I can secure a 5090? I would buy it, then sell it again (or upgrade my kids PC), but don't want to lose a ton of money in the process. I was thinking a 4060ti? Thoughts?

Best you can get for £100 IMO. You'd be surprised what it can run.

Thinking of getting a 5070ti if possible or a second hand 4070ti to keep price down as budget is tight. Do we think the 5070ti will have a big enough boost over the 4070ti to justify it?

Thanks mate, I was wondering about this. Did it for the 3000 generation but had forgotten which site I should spam F5 on at 14:00 hours.

I think scalpers might get stung this time, and I really hope they do... The prices are already INSANE, and I can't see many people willing to pay double insane. For me it's a matter of principle this time, 80 and 90 class pricing is getting out of hand and if we keep paying it, it won't stop. Though I can afford it, I'll only be pushed so far before I'm like "You know what, you can keep it mate".... I'm getting too old and cynical for this s*'t :p
I can definitely see scalpers getting stung this time for a number of reasons.
I think a lot of the scalping that happened in 2020/21 during lockdown periods have given some of them a false sense of confidence. At 4090 launch there was a few of course but it was nowhere near as prevalent and most went back down to RRP again on ebay etc cos people weren't biting. Also this time around the performance gains from the Lovelace cards seem miniscule at best, in comparison to the jump from 3090 to 4090 for example, I can't see many 4080/90 owners paying in excess of £3-4k+ to a scalper for such a small increase in performance.
Of course there will be some launch day shenanigans but I think the days of waiting 3-6 months for a GPU are long gone.

Hope everyone trying to get one for launch has the best of luck

Looking at the AIB prices, the shops/manufactures are already scalping so there is little room left for other scalpers to do it.

The FE's are the only viable target price wise. But there is the 1 per address limitation and the store selling them is known to manually check each FE order for people trying to get around it, and cancelling the orders. With this in mind, people maybe able to buy one and sell it for a small profit, but it won't be anything like the scalping was with the 30 series.

The PS5 Pro also burned a lot of scalpers. The price tempered people's FOMO so it was still widely in stock, for less than MSRP, while scalpers were trying to flip them for a profit LOL. A lot will have learned their lesson I think

I think you underestimate the greed of scalpers! I expect to see the cheaper 5090's for sale for £3500+ by the next day.
