NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

It’s just crazy, Considering it’s a shooter and you want all the fps you can get. I mean Cyberpunk performs better and looks way better. I’ve been playing Robocop which obv uses UE5 and nanite and that looks and plays great on my 5080. To remake a classic like HL2 and 2 graphics cards in the world run it maxed out just barely has got to be a joke .

It’s a pass for me I’ll play to original at 300+fps before this.

I get the sense replaying the game with modern lighting, like the Crysis Remastered series, was never the Intention, like so many things with RTX branding its purpose is to upsell you high cost GPU's you would otherwise not need, why waste the sellability of a popular title on updating it when instead you can use and abuse it to sell more over priced graphics cards, this sums up PC gaming now, thanks Nvidia....

Edit, go to the Steam page and look at the amount of Nvidia marketing on it, its like clicking on the Nvidia website.....

Eh... I've just tried it and it's a fun little tech demo, but nothing to write home about. Hovering in the 250-300 fps range on a 7950X3D/5090 combo with DLSS balanced and 4x MFG. It looks and plays ok, but I'm not quite sure how it can put out lower performance than a maxed out Cyberpunk. I doubt it's some great marketing conspiracy. Just treat it as a fun little toy.

Quake 2 RTX absolutely broke the 2000-series cards that were the best around when it came out. The 3000-series ate it for breakfast.

4K Balanced is 1253P, on top of that you're running 4X Multiframe Generation, so out of 250 FPS your real FPS is 62 with the rest being fake frames, with an input res of a bit higher than 1080P, this with a 5090.

Crysis 3 Remastered with RT runs 60+ 4K on a 4070 which doesn't have MFG. with this you would be lucky to get 30 with all the help enabled, this is the problem.

Oh, I know, the performance to image quality trade-off is horrible. But, as I say, just treat it as a fun little toy, largely for trying out MFG. The original game is still there if you want it.

Its deliberately made to run like dog poop on reasonably priced hardware, especially that from the last generation, when i say reasonable hardware i'm talking about £600 from the last gen, completely unnecessary, it is a marketing tool and because of that it likely never will get a proper remaster so the 95% can enjoy it again in a revamped guise, and all because its never enough for Nvidia.

You can just turn the settings down and get to see ray tracing in the game. If which case it looks alright, just not razor sharp + a little ‘noisy’ in places. Still looks better than the original.

It’s still a bit jank with the ‘blood / gore’ effects regardless.

I'll believe that when i actually see it running at 60 FPS on a 4070 with RT, you can easily do that with Crysis 3 Remastered at 4K, there is no reason at all why this game being far less complex should need something that costs as much as a designer watch.

TBF, I think the engine is part of the problem. Portal RTX runs like poop too despite the ultra simplistic graphics.

Path Tracing is the problem, RTX Path Tracing is out of DXR spec, Path Racing is to Nvidia like PhysX, Hairworks ecte....was, always something like that from Nvidia, all of this crap that is Nvidia derived none conforming with DX spec and runs like garbage on lesser of Nvidia's own GPU's and incompatible with competing GPU's so it run's emulated or on the CPU.

Somehow they always manage to stuff this crap in to games and then over charge you for the privilege.

Oh... yes, 'RTX' Path Tracing isn't compatible with AMD GPU's, its Nvidia's garbage.

I dunno what people are doing for it to be unplayable for so many people, though it does seem a bit inconsistent performance wise between people with the same hardware.

At 1440p my 4080 Super is easily giving a 60+ FPS experience with it (ignoring the 100+ FPS FG is pretending it to be) and can even run double the number of light bounces as per ultra with playable performance and even my 3070 is just about coping without too much compromise. 4K is a little more challenging.
