NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

While others are hammering Nvidia for their silly games, this is what Linus decided to post and buy adding more to the most ridicules graphics card ever made category.. Of course it's an ASUS card.. more ASUS tax ..

No 5060 review, no talking about nvidia shenanigans, just post video promoting gold plated 5090. Yep LTT sure knows its audience

Linus seems to have other things going on at the moment than to cater to some of you's unrelenting desire for nvidia drama when there's plenty of it on the internet at the moment but maybe he'll get round to it.

Linus doesn't care anyway, LTT is doing less and less hardware reviews every year and the channel has transformed into more of a sponsored shopping TV channel

From one of the best tech channel to now the worst and all the spin off channels that are even worse than the main channel. It really has become a sponsored shopping channel of junk and kitting out his work mates with sponsored content all the time now. Junk channel, Gamers Nexus had a right to call him out with his shenanigans and reviews that were not even correct.

Just become pure greed channel and nothing more with childish presenters that are in their 40s and older some of them.

I've asked Zotac this too but figured I'd ask here, can companies refuse warranty for using aftermarket cables? In this specific case 12VHPWR, I've been using a Fasgear one for few years now with 4090, 4080 etc on my MSI PSU that has a 12VHPWR plug and haven't had an issue with the cable itself but it's got me wondering about warranty, back in day I know loads ran cablemod kits but the 12VHPWR isn't exactly as robust as that socket

Seasonic to save the day

Seasonic has announced OptiGuard; a safety system for 12HWPR connections. Later in 2025 Seasonic PSUs will start shipping with OptiGuard. OptiGuard detects load and voltage across each pin from the 12 pin power connectors and can even shut down your system if the cable exceeds safety parameters or play warning alarm sounds

However this wouldn't be needed if Nvidia just put this stuff on their PCBs like they used to

From what i understand only on their Prime series so you'll have to pay more to get that feature, pay more to have the feature on a PSU so you can get cheaper GPU's. :p
Yeah...Wire View Pro '2', also reported to have pin monitoring added. 2-3 months away Roman says on reddit.

My 5090 is due to arrive today. I assume in 2025 I can just take out the 4090 and pop in the 5090 and it will be auto-detected, no need to uninstall drivers in advance or any shizzle like that?

They'll be the same drivers, so yes you can just pop the card in, drivers should reinstall themselves. Its always worked that way for me.

That'll be fine I switch entirely platform from ryzen 5950 to 9950 and 3080 to 5080 GPU etc, in one go just moved NVMe over, up and running in 5 mins after a reboot or two and installing latest drivers, though apparently left digital license for windows on old mobo but that is another problem entirely.

Doesn't matter which way you go, you'll still be upgraded to the latest The way it's meant to be broken (tm) drivers. Enjoy. :D
