NVIDIA Rumored To Release Pascal Refresh With GDDR5X and Faster Clocks – Volta To Feature HBM2 and G

Not really. A refresh of pascal with faster clocks might give you 10%. Info on vega says its going to 13 -14 Tflops which makes it 30to40% faster than a TitanX pascal.

If true until Nvidia get Volta out, AMD will have the fastest card. I can only see a refreshed 1080 getting close to current titanx speeds. Thats a big gap to Vega.

Bearing in mind pascal was never meant to exist and was a last minute shoehorn into the roadmap as t65he gap between pascal and volta was too big, disappointing Nvidia is only offering another refresh for next year.

This should give AMD their chance to be king for a while so long as they dont mess it up.

That's the problem ( be king for a while so long as they dont mess it up.)

The source reads like someone getting excited about their dog dying...
If that lot is all true, it's hardly a revelation - just business as usual.

There's only 2 outcomes when it comes to nVidia and co. They either make a mistake and release a superb product in terms of tdp/performance at a great price...

Or they don't and we get the shaft.
Looks like we get the shaft and it's even a little bit longer than the usual one.

Now I'm off to pop a bottle of champagne in excitement as it's just started raining here.

Which is good as my 980ti will be in its 2nd year and time to upgrade. Hopefully we will have more dx12/vulkan games out so we will know who which vendor does it better.

Ok so if NVidia really are thinking of releasing a refresh of Pascal for next year, as per this guess I mean exclusive leak from Wccftech, what could we realistically expect.

At some point next year, we could have a 1080ti GP102 based card that I would expect be faster than the currant TitanX, and an even faster full chip TitanX yetagain edition. This would give the currant TitanX a good run, maybe 7-9 months at the top.

I would guess at a 1070ti with GDDR5x and a bit of a clock speed jump, maybe boosting to 2GHz rather than the listed 1683. (even though they custom cards boost more than that anyway) bringing it much closer to the currant 1080.

A 1060ti that clocks higher than the currant one again with GDDR5x, performing much closer to the currant 1070.

Personally I don't reckon it will happen, but I could quite easily be wrong.:)

Thats the problem. Learned my lesson last time I bought Ti's, soon as the 1080's came out I was struggling to get £300 ea for them even though I paid £599 each at launch.

Loose money on my 1080's to buy Ti's, then loose money on my Ti's to buy 1180's.

Think i'll likely wait for the 1180's this time around. I say that but will probably end up getting the Ti's anyway lol :p.

More so if its true volta is rumoured to be released in 2018.

You see, i am stuck with 5xx series. I use 580 with 3gb vram card. I save so much money and this card serves me well. I do not have the headache about your problem :D

Yup, next gen will be different from both vendors. Pascal is just a bit of rev 2.0 . Not really worth to upgrade to it. I would wait for next one and buy it.

This rig will survive 1070/1080 and even 1080Ti with a bit of sacrifice . https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=30020929&postcount=9575

If they go for the shrink 100+ on the core. memory about the same.

"There’s no reason to doubt the credibility of this leak however, this is coming from the same guy who talked about NVIDIA Volta GPUs a few months back."

Hey, I talked about Volta a couple months back, too. Guess that makes anything I say 100% credible from now on? :/

This site truly has the lowest of standards for reporting.

Someone needs to start a Fact or Fiction WCCFTECH thread.

The amount of times the left hand contradicts the right hand leaving a situation where they can later link to one or the other and say look we was right is pretty sad. When you make enough stuff up you'll eventually get something right.

I wouldn't have bothered with this thread but news has been so slow lately, I was happy to take anything, fact or fiction lol. I don't put much stock in this article in truth but still worthy of discussion and could well happen.

I would not believe it either.

Having said that there are things that NVidia could do that have a good chance of appearing.

A full fat GP102 card (Titan refresh)

GTX 1070s using GDDR5X as it would be easy to do by just using the 1080 board setup.

If I decide to buy a revised Pascal 1080 to go SLI and it is able to clock higher than my current one, will mGPU allow me to get the benefit of a higher clock on one card in the SLI setup?

I think its a bad idea to buy video cards with the expectation to be able to flip them later at a reasonable price. Dont get me wrong ive done it myself but unless you constantly keep yourself updated and sell before release, while enduring the hardship that is onboard graphics while you wait, there really isnt much you can do about the loss of value. The only cards ive seen that has been able to hold some kind of value was the AMD cards during the mining frenzy and nvidias titan brand.

Note: The information in this article is based on pure speculation. There’s no confirmation about the mentioned products for any upcoming GeForce cards. Hence, the article should be treated as a rumor till NVIDIA officially confirms any next-gen products.
